Summary

1. Assist Head of Data Management & Governance in implementing and monitoring HSBC SA data strategy; a strategy that reflects Group data policies and frameworks, HSBC SA Business needs, and CMA regulatory requirements.
2. Responsibile for identifying, delivering, and tracking data quality and data management benefits cross-function/business and has direct delivery accountability over all major intra-lob and function projects (like data cleaning & cleansing exercises).
3. Responsible for the development and delivery of management/resolution of DQ issues and concerns.
4. Collaborate and constantly follow up with internal stakeholders on Data remediation exercises and activities.
5. Drives support for HSBC SA involvement in external data related schemes.(e.g. Gov, Regulatory Bodies, etc…).
6. Facilitate root cause analysis, review, and resolution of cross line of business Data Quality issues raised as part of business self certification, audit, or external regulators.

Other Details

• Responsible in collaboration and supervision of Head of Data Management & Governance to effectively and efficiently oversee implementation of the Group and local standard for the universe of enterprise data as it pertains to customer, credit, risk, finance and product to ensure a consistent approach to storage, architecture, enabling high quality analytics to support regulatory, compliance, finance business and customer activities.
• This critical role will work with the COO and will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the execution of the approved Global data policies, data processes and data quality framework, building data quality into the culture of all Businesses, Functions and Services to improve the quality of data across the organization.
• The Data Management and Governance Manager will work with each of the business / function and lead the data strategy drive into each of the businesses as well as assist each business in the implementation of their business-level data organization and strategy.
• The Data Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the HSBC SA Data strategy is implemented correctly across all Businesses, Functions , ensuring the data is correct and secure and the customers' privacy is governed correctly.
• The Data Quality Manager will govern standard data operating procedures, data accountability policies, data quality standards, data privacy and ethical policies as well as understand how to combine different data sources within the organization with each other, converging current data activities with the group Data strategy.

• Implement and oversee ongoing adherence to Data Management principles across core business and functions.
• Implement Data Quality Framework.
• Implement the use of a consistent Business Data Dictionary across HSBC SA.

Customers / Stakeholders

• Implement Group Data Policies and Standards (data FIM)
• Be involved in several data initiatives. Examples include:
• Improve Risk and Financial Reporting
• Reduce Capital requirements
• Global Standards & Compliance
• Customer Data Strategy
• Liaise with internal external stakeholders with respect Data Governance activities.
• Working with the business/functions to implement a timely and effective data strategy

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

• Experience running data management programs and/or organizations at a large financial services institution
• Knowledge of data management practices
• Active industry knowledge of the current state of data management trends
• Project/Programme Management skills (project planning and tracking; Issue identification and management; project status reporting)
• Business process analysis skills – ability to analyze and document the current processes and organizations that create and manage the client data
• Previous experience with data management tools
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years at least of experience dealing directly with data management required
• Master's degree in a related discipline preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of Financial Services (Banking, Wealth Management, and Capital Markets) business processes and resultant information needs: client, risk / regulatory / finance, etc
• Demonstrated knowledge of data structure, data systems/tools and related software and data management policies and practices in a complex organizational environment
• Proven record of making sound judgments, effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; building teams and consensus; getting things done through others not directly under his/her supervision; and working ethically and with integrity
• Proven record of effective management, including planning and decision-making, identifying priorities and bringing projects to successful completion in a timely manner; and maintaining a focus on high standards and quality
