Role Purpose:

Provide specialized engineering expertise in the design and specification of static and stationary mechanical equipment for oil, gas, and petrochemical projects. Responsible for delivering high-quality engineering deliverables, supporting multi-discipline coordination, and ensuring compliance with client requirements, international codes, and project standards within all phases of consultancy work.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
  Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 15
  years of relevant experience in engineering consultancy or EPC design offices within oil, gas, or petrochemical sectors.
• Technical Skills:
  Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, vibration, and materials.
• Codes, Standards and procedures:
  Strong knowledge of ASME, API, TEMA, NACE, and client (e.g., Saudi Aramco, SABIC) specific codes, standards and procedures
• Proficient in design and analysis tools such as PV Elite, Compress, HTRI, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
• Familiarity with
  EPC workflow
  , FEED and detailed design phases, and document control systems.
• Relationship with others
  : Interacts internally with other discipline engineers and externally coordinate with clients, professionals in the engineering field, sub-contractors, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Design & Deliverables

• Develop and issue
  mechanical datasheets, specifications, and design basis documents
  for static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, reactors, and storage tanks.
• Perform design calculations and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME Sec VIII, API 650/620, TEMA, etc.).
• Prepare and maintain
  equipment lists
  ,
  mechanical design philosophies
  , and
  requisition packages
  .
• Review and approve vendor documents including design calculations, drawings, welding procedures, and test plans.
• Coordinate with process, piping, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure integrated design.

2. Procurement & Vendor Support

• Prepare
  material requisitions (MRs)
  and
  technical bid evaluations (TBEs)
  for static equipment.
• Participate in vendor pre-qualification and technical clarification meetings.
• Review vendor offers and ensure compliance with project and client specifications.
• Provide technical support during equipment fabrication and respond to vendor queries.

3. Project Execution Support

• Deliver high-quality engineering work within budgeted man-hours and schedules.
• Support 3D model reviews and interdisciplinary design checks.
• Assist in resolving technical issues during detailed design, fabrication, and installation.
• Provide input for project estimates, proposals, and engineering progress reports.

4. Standards, Compliance & Quality

• Ensure all designs and deliverables adhere to
  project specifications
  ,
  client standards (e.g., Saudi Aramco, SABIC)
  , and relevant
  international codes
  .
• Maintain awareness of new developments in materials, fabrication, and inspection technologies relevant to static equipment.
• Participate in internal design audits and peer reviews to maintain technical quality.

5. Technical Leadership & Coordination

• Interface regularly with client representatives to clarify requirements and provide technical justification.
• Support junior engineers in developing their technical competency and reviewing their work.
• Contribute to development of engineering procedures, design templates, and lessons learned databases.

6. Others

• Act as lead engineer on projects.
• Performs site visits for documentation and cost estimating of existing systems and facility conditions.
• Coordinates system layout and drawings with other disciplines.
• Performs load calculations, equipment sizing, and material selection and develops appropriate system concepts and layouts.
• Designs of systems, including calculations and cost estimating under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.
• Prepares technical specifications.
• Reviews and evaluates equipment and material shop drawings and product submittals.
• Visits construction sites to inspect work in progress or completed.
• Mentors lower rank discipline personnel.
• Prepares Engineering Reports.
• Completes complex and specialty types of design.
• Assists the discipline chief engineer in developing and maintaining discipline's standards, templates and procedures.
• Stays abreast of technical advancements in respective field and disseminates information to staff.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager
• Possesses effective writing and verbal communication skills.
• Plans, organizes and implements works with successful and timely results. Open to changes, receptive to new ideas and concepts.
• Interacts internally with engineering personnel and coordinates work with personnel of other departments.
