Food Safety Trainer (Bilingual: English & Arabic)

Job Summary

The Food Safety Trainer will design, deliver, and evaluate food safety training programs at all levels (basic hygiene up to HACCP, auditing, allergen management, PIC). They will ensure compliance with Highfield (or equivalent awarding body) requirements, be qualified to deliver courses, assessments, and to train trainers. They must be bilingual (English/Arabic) and capable of enrolling students for PIC certification and other food safety qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality training courses in food safety covering:
  • Basic food hygiene / good hygiene practices (GHP)
  • HACCP (all levels up to advanced)
  • Allergen management
  • Auditing, inspection, and internal verification
  • PIC / Person-in-Charge certification and advanced PIC programmes
  • Develop, adapt and maintain training materials, course curriculum, slides, manuals, pre-course and post-course assessments, ensuring materials are up to date with local and international regulations and standards.
  • Conduct the "Train the Trainer" courses where applicable, preparing new trainers to meet the standards for delivery and assessment.
  • Assess trainees via written exams, practical assessments as required; ensure high pass rates, fair assessment, and compliance with awarding body procedures.
  • Support candidates for PIC certification: guide them in choosing the correct pathway, checking their prior qualifications, enrolling them appropriately, preparing them for e-assessments/exams.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes (municipality, Ministry of Health / Food & Drug Authority etc.), Highfield or equivalent awarding body criteria, HACCP updates, international food safety standards.
  • Liaise with certification bodies (e.g. Highfield) and local authorities to ensure the academy's approvals are maintained, trainers are approved, audit requirements are met.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of training: collect feedback, do gap analyses, conduct refresher trainings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant attendance, certifications, renewals.

Qualifications & Skills

Academic / Professional Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in one of: Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Environmental / Public Health, Veterinary Science, Hotel Management with specialization in food safety, or similar.

Relevant professional qualifications: Highfield Level 3 Awards (Food Safety for Catering, HACCP, Allergen Management, Auditing & Inspection) or equivalent.

"Train the Trainer" certification (e.g. Highfield's PIC Train-the-Trainer program or any other recognized instructor qualification).

Experience

Minimum 2-3 years (or more, depending on seniority) of working experience in food safety / hygiene roles, in one or more of:

  • Supervision of food preparation (ideally at managerial level)
  • Quality assurance / quality control in a food operation, or regulatory authority role
  • Auditing, inspection, consulting in food safety
  • Conducting training in food safety / HACCP / PIC etc.
  • Experience delivering HACCP programmes (developing HACCP plans, implementation, monitoring) and auditing.
  • Experience with local food safety regulations and standards in your country / region.

Languages

Fluent in English and Arabic (both written and spoken).

Other Skills

  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, communication skills.
  • Strong organisation, planning, attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt training for different audiences (restaurants, food manufacturers, retail etc.).
  • Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel; possibly Learning Management Systems).
