JOB PURPOSE 

BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia.  We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

The Digital Cartography Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining digital maps, charts, and other geospatial visualisations. The purpose of this role is to ensure that all maps and charts are accurate, up-to-date, and meet the applicable geospatial data products standards and policies. The Individual should be able to work well unsupervised and will be able to plan and organise the team's activities.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

·       Creates and maintains digital maps, charts, and other geospatial visualisations

·       Ensures that all maps and charts meet the applicable geospatial data standards and policies.

·       Collaborates with other geospatial specialists to integrate geospatial data products into maps and charts.

·       Ensures that all maps and charts are accurate, up-to-date, and reflect the latest geospatial information.

·       Applies analytical and creative skills to develop optimal map layouts and designs.

·       Monitors and reviews map and chart production processes to ensure quality and timeliness.

·       Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of digital cartography platforms and tools.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION

Essential

·       Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field.

·       Certificate in Cartography or equivalent.

·       Extensive experience in digital cartography roles.

·       Skills in ArcGlS Pro, ArcGlS Desktop, QGIS, Adobe Photoshop.

·       Strong knowledge of cartography principles, geospatial tools and technologies.

·       Strong knowledge of military mapping such as TLM, JOG.

·       Familiarity with geospatial data standards and policies.

·       Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.

·       Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and customers.
