JOB SCOPE
To strive for continual improvement in meeting established quality objectives, key performance indicators, product quality and product delivery.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Fully comply with and exercise diligence in observing all QHSSE standards specified by management and MODON rules and regulations.
    Operate assigned CNC machines, making sure that the machines are operating at maximum efficiency and that proper product specifications are honored. Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, material specifications and machining parameters.
    Interpret Geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD &T) Verify that the CNC program, set up sheet, tooling kit and route card match and the correct revision of the drawing is being used.
    Log all information like Job description, operation number, start/stop times, quantities, downtime etc. on the Daily production sheet. Any errors should be communicated to the Supervisor.
    Ensure that a thorough inspection is carried out on the first piece of a job by the QC inspector, before continuing with that job. Noncomplying components during set up and run must be kept separate from good or reworkable parts and the Supervisor should be made aware of these.
    Any reworkable parts should be reworked. All completed components should be cleaned and placed on a wooden palette (along with a Goods Identification Sheet) in such a way that damage should not occur when it transits to the next operation.
    All measuring devices and tools should be handled / stored in a safe manner and in such a way that no damage occurs and after completion of the job, it should be returned to the appropriate locations. Ensure only authorized personnel to be within the vicinity of machines and all machines are operated under strict QHSSE guidelines.
    Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum 2 3 years of experience as a CNC operator in manufacturing industry
    Certificate in Industrial training (certificated machinist) or equivalent; Diploma in Engineering is a plus. Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
    Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings. Ability to build trust and confidence with management.
    Capable of writing or editing basic programs. Includes programming of mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, includes basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; capable of proving part programs. Capable of performing setup mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three
- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
Proficient in use of precision instruments such as micrometres and callipers for measuring and calculating dimensions & tolerances. Good communication abilities
