Senior Engineer, PIMS /PI II
Job Summary:
The Senior Engineer, PIMS, is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Plant Information Management System within an organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of the Plant Information Management System (PIMS) to ensure effective data acquisition, storage, and analysis for plant operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, operations personnel, and IT professionals, to define and document system requirements, data structures, and data integration processes.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of PIMS software, databases, and associated hardware infrastructure.Develop and implement data acquisition strategies, including configuring and integrating data historians, SCADA systems, and other data sources to collect real-time plant data.
Design and develop data models, databases, and data storage architectures to ensure efficient and scalable data management within the PIMS.
Implement data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of plant data.Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the availability, security, and performance of the PIMS infrastructure and associated systems.
Develop and maintain data visualization and reporting tools, dashboards, and analytics capabilities to enable effective monitoring and analysis of plant data.
Collaborate with process engineers and operations personnel to identify data-driven opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction.Provide technical expertise and support for PIMS-related issues, troubleshooting system problems, and implementing corrective actions.
Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in PIMS, data management, and process automation.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives in PIMS, including evaluating and implementing new software, tools, and methodologies to enhance system capabilities and performance.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training and development needs for PIMS team members.Collaborate with vendors, consultants, and service providers to leverage their expertise and resources for PIMS-related projects and support.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and data privacy requirements in PIMS operations and data management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Min 5 years of experience in PIMS development, implementation, or a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of Plant Information Management Systems (PIMS), data acquisition, and data management principles and practices.
