Histotechnologist

Performs avariety of Histo-chemical, Microscopic, and Immunological, procedures/testingin the Clinical Laboratory to obtain accurate data for diagnosis and treatmentof disease.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Prepares microscopic slides from specimens of scrapings, or other exudates for analysis, and fixes them to determine the presence or absence of disease Stains and mount slides to preserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under the microscope.
• Prepares and Histological processes of all surgical pathology specimens in preparation for pathologist review and diagnosis.
• Ensuresoptimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted services; assists in ordering supplies and maintains the supply inventory system. Operates within cost effective practices of section.
• Assists in the evaluation of new methodologies/equipment. Assists in the revision of policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.
• Performs minor gross descriptions, frozen section, cutting of paraffin blocks, routine hematoxylin and eosin staining as well as histochemical stains.
• Performs specialized task (Immunohistochemical stains, muscle histochemistry, in-Situ hybridization, Immunofluorescence) after proper training.
• Maintains records as per Hospital established Medical Laboratory standards. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
• Maintains Quality Control programs of the section and participates in the Quality Assurance programs of the department.
• Comply with the section policies, procedures and protocols. follow the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and other international accreditation agencies standards.
• Follows all Hospital's related policies and procedures.
• Participates in self and others' education, training, and development, as applicable.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required.

Experience Required:

Grade 08:

Two (2) years of experience in Histology with Bachelor's or completion of one (1) year SCDP program in Histology at KFSH&RC for Saudi National is required.

Grade 09:

Four (4) years as a Histotechnologies KFSH&RC, or (Grade 08) related experience is required.

Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.

Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].

Other Requirements(Certificates):

Current Registration from country of origin and SaudiCommission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.

Registration as HTL (ASCP) or HT(ASCP), AIMLS,AIMS, or NZIMLT is preferred
