Histotechnologist

Performs avariety of Histo-chemical, Microscopic, and Immunological, procedures/testingin the Clinical Laboratory to obtain accurate data for diagnosis and treatmentof disease.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Preparesmicroscopic slides from specimens of scrapings, or other exudates foranalysis, and fixes themto determine the presence or absenceof disease Stains and mount slides topreserve specimen and enhance visibility of cells under the microscope.
• Prepares andHistological processess of all surgical pathology specimens in preparation forpathologist review and diagnosis.
• Ensuresoptimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted services;assists in ordering supplies and maintains the supply inventory system.

Operates within cost effective practices of section.

• Assists inthe evaluation of new methodologies/equipment. Assists in the revision ofpolicy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.
• Performsminor gross descriptions, frozen section, cutting of paraffin blocks, routinehematoxylin and eosin staining as well as hitochemical stains.
• Performsspecialized task (Immunohistochemical stains, muscle histochemistry, in-situhybridization, Immunoflourescence) after proper training.
• Maintainsrecords as per Hospital established Medical Laboratory standards. Operates andmaintains laboratory equipment.
• MaintainsQuality Control programs of the section and participates in the QualityAssurance programs of the department.
• Comply withthe section policies, procedures and protocols. follow the section qualityimprovement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and otherinternational accreditation agencies standards.
• Follows allHospital related policies and procedures.
• Participates in self andothers' education, training, and development, as applicable.
• Performs otherrelated duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or is required.

Experience Required:

Grade 08:

Two (2) years ofexperience in Histology with Bachelor's or completion of one (1) year SCDPprogram in Histology at KFSH&RC for Saudi National is required.

Grade 09:

Four (4) years as a Histotechnologistat KFSH&RC, or (Grade 08) related experience is required.

Average of annualperformance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.

Fifty (50) hours of cumulativecontinued medical education [CME].

Other Requirements(Certificates):

Current Registration from country of origin and SaudiCommission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.

Registration as HTL (ASCP) or HT(ASCP), AIMLS,AIMS, or NZIMLT is preferred
