You will be working as Country Communication Manager for the GCC region will be part of Electrification Business Area based in Riyadh Saudi or United Arab Emirates. In this role you will be responsible for leading Tier 1 and financial media as well as crisis communications and issues management for UAE Saudi Arabia Jordan and Qatar. You are responsible for protecting the ABB brand and for ensuring a balanced profile of ABB and its businesses. You will own the country based digital platforms and be responsible for cascading ABBwide internal communications in the region. You will collaborate with other communicators in the region in line with the ABB Way.

Your responsibilities
  • Leading media relations with Tier 1 and financial publications in the GCC region working with division business area and group communicators.
  • Acting as a spokesperson for country Tier 1 and financial media responding to incoming media requests and supporting key leaders with media guidance coaching and speaking opportunities. Localizing and distributing global press releases to Tier 1 and financial publications for all ABB divisions and business areas. Planning supporting preparing and managing responses to inquiries from external sources including crisis and issue related media and social media escalations and responses.
  • Serving on the country crisis task force. Offering guidance regarding crises and issues in line with ABBs operational model. Ensuring all issues and crises are handled with minimum negative impact to the organization and the ABB brand.
  • Responsible for internal communications duties including mandatory employee communications and fiduciary requirements locally. Manage cascading of limited ABB Corporate content in alignment with other functions including legal and integrity HSE HR and security. Management and governance of country internal communication channels such as Viva Engage and the intranet.
  • Management and governance including translations as needed of country social channels and websites.
  • Safeguarding brand identity and ensuring regulatory compliance in all communications both internally and externally. Ensuring balanced profile in the region. Responsible for regional protocol events.
  • Managing and applying rigorous control to the country communications budget ensuring transparency and maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Proven ability leading and motivating local as well as remote and globally dispersed teams: achieving organizational focus on key priorities providing clear direction delegating actively communicating and coaching/mentoring; ability to lead and influence also from a distance in a matrix organization is key.
  • Handson leadership skills with a pragmatic businessfocused approach to the delivery of service and projects alike being decisive and actionoriented within areas of responsibility.
  • The ability to set clear goals and accountable in driving results.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
  • The ability to act in a transparent and consistent manner while always considering what is best for the organization.
Your background
  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing or Communications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in related field of Marketing Communication Management or Public Relations in a highly matrixed organization
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and strong writing/editing skills.
  • Indepth demonstrable knowledge and experience of all aspects of internal and external communications
  • Extensive network within the press/media and ability to lead crisis communications autonomously.
  • Strong Business partnership collaboration and communication skills with deep experience of managing internal and external relationships seamlessly
  • Deep knowledge of the regional culture and differences and ability to advise accordingly including for protocol events.
