Petroplan is seeking a Lead Telecoms & Security Engineer responsible for ensuring that engineering work within the discipline meets the required standards and is completed within the allocated budgeted execution-hours. This position reports to the Engineering Head of Department.

The Lead Telecoms & Security Engineer will ensure that discipline engineering work is performed to the correct standard and within the budgeted execution-hours. The role is critical to the expansion of Engineering capability in Saudi Arabia, supporting both traditional Oil and Gas projects and Low Carbon / Energy Transition initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Resource Allocation: Assign appropriate resources for proposals, FEED verification, and detailed engineering projects.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on workload and target achievements, identifying issues and steps for correction.
  • Collaboration: Maintain close liaison with engineers and department heads to stay updated on schedule impacts and problem areas.
  • Expert Advice: Serve as a subject matter expert, advising on technology solutions.
  • Information Management: Ensure engineers have necessary information and reference materials in advance.
  • Accuracy and Standards: Guarantee work accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Performance Assessment: Evaluate performance of engineers/designers and perform QA/QC checks for junior engineers.
  • Work Allocation: Distribute work packages, monitor progress, resolve queries, and expedite design progress.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate resource and equipment requirements with relevant engineering departments.
  • Execution Monitoring: Ensure discipline work meets standards and is completed within allocated hours.
  • Technical Proficiency: Be proficient with email, spreadsheets, and design software, confident in handling queries and problems.
  • Scheduling: Create work schedules to meet deadlines and manage execution hours.
  • Team Development: Recognize strengths and weaknesses within the team, allocate work accordingly, provide training, and promote expertise.
  • Value Engineering: Assess value engineering and constructability issues.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain HSE standards, comply with the company's HSE Management System, and raise concerns and improvements to the Head of Department.
  • Quality Compliance: Follow and maintain company quality standards.
Requirements:
  • 20 years of experience in the installation, testing, maintenance, and advanced design of secure network and telecommunications solutions.
  • Extensive experience in detailed engineering, including FEED and Pre-FEED stages.
  • Specific experience with Gas-Oil Separation Plan (GOSP) projects.
  • Prior involvement in ARAMCO projects.
  • Ideally, experience in projects of $1B value, with at least hundreds of millions in size.
  • Proficiency in advanced information security solutions, including security software, scripts, configurations, network infrastructure, intrusion detection, TCP/IP protocols, and application security.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security solutions spanning multiple business functions and geographic locations.
  • Advanced knowledge of secure network architectures and standards development.
  • Detailed understanding of DNS, DHCP, IP routing, AAA, RADIUS, TACACS, authentication systems, Wireless LAN, proxy technology, and network appliances.
  • Competence in various engineering and modeling software.
  • Ability to analyze training needs for the team.
  • Demonstrated team management skills.
  • Capability to allocate work based on team strengths and weaknesses and provide targeted training for skill enhancement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Confidence in addressing engineering queries and resolving problems.
  • Aptitude for understanding critical project elements and creating schedules to ensure on-time completion within designated execution-hours.
  • Awareness of team dynamics, with a focus on promoting expertise and addressing weaknesses.
