SPAR KZN Distribution Centre: Internship Programme 2023

The SPAR Group Ltd SA recognizes the significance of offering internship opportunities to empower young individuals and contribute to the nation's economic progress. Collaborating with YES for Youth, SPAR aims to provide a valuable work experience that will help youth unlock their full career potential.

Catalyx, working as an implementation partner for SPAR SA, is reaching out to unemployed youth for the twelve (12) months work experience program offered by YES for Youth. It is important to note that SPAR / YES / Catalyx does NOT require any fees for program participation.

Exciting intern openings are available at the Distribution Centres situated in Phoenix Industrial Park and Mount Edgecombe, KwaZulu Natal. Interns selected for these positions will receive a minimum wage, comprehensive personal development training, coaching, and various other perks.

Selection Criteria:

  • Must be a South African Citizen
  • Age requirement: 18 – 28 years
  • Must be currently unemployed and NOT enrolled in full-time studies
  • Minimum educational qualification: Matric pass and relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • Must have a clear criminal record
  • Individuals who have not previously participated in YES are preferred
  • Available to commit to the complete 12-month work program (1 April 2023 – 31 March 2024)
  • Engagement in Interview and Verification Process

  • Financial Management
  • Cost and Management Accounting

Marketing Department

National Degree / Diploma in:

  • Retail Management
  • Business Management
  • Supply Chain Management

Note: The role involves activities such as purchasing, negotiation, promotions, and stock planning. Strong financial understanding is crucial.


Information Technology Department

  • National Degree / Diploma in: Project Management (specializing in Computer Skills / Business Analytics / Retail Systems Specialist / Customer Liaison)
  • Specialized A+; N+ and MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) (focusing on Network Systems / Project Management / SAP and Training)
  • Having a Driver's License will be beneficial.

Warehouse / Logistics Department

National Degree / Diploma in:

  • Supply Chain Management
  • Freight Logistics Management
  • Road Transport Management
  • Project Management
  • Consumer Science: Food and Nutrition / Biochemistry
  • Quality Control: Food Technology / Microbiology

Risk / Quality Department

National Diploma in:
