Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Partner with our business teams, including commercial distribution team, content team, and technology team to summarize and communicate legal concepts clearly and successfully and help them synthesize legal frameworks in developing their business strategies.
  • Improve template agreements and legal processes consistent with locally relevant approach.
  • Work closely with colleagues on regulatory matters and product launches in different jurisdictions throughout the MEA region.
  • Working with different teams to ensure that the company complies with relevant laws and regulations, as well as corporate governance policies and procedures.
  • Advise our teams about relevant legal contexts, issues and risks and suggested mitigation strategies, complex agreement structures, approval processes, and company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional colleagues including management, procurement, finance, strategy, HR.
  • Deal with content production, content licensing agreements.
  • Review, draft and negotiate the legal terms of contracts with different parties.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements with governmental entities including those relating to events and governmental initiatives.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction related contracts (FIDIC and non FIDIC).
  • Working on different construction projects across the group including pre-contract, contract and post-contract issues and claims.
  • Communicating and working in collaboration with different departments involved in construction projects such as executive managers, project managers, finance and procurement.
  • Proactively advise on general legal/contractual implications on the business of commercial decisions.
  • Deal with all forms of media and the rights that belong to the creator of the idea for that particular media.
  • Administer commercial transactions and structure them so that corporations function within the boundaries of the law.
  • Draft standard clauses (i.e. – Warranties, Indemnities, Force Majeure, Waiver) which are commonly used in all kinds of agreements.
  • Conducting employment related research and advice.
  • Working with HR, audit, compliance and other departments to assist on employment and termination related matters.
  • Assist in reviewing and drafting employment related contracts, documents, waivers, investigations.
  • Working on drafting and updating policies on a group and entity level.
  • Provide support in handling legal disputes, including conducting research, gathering evidence, liaising with external counsel, and maintaining and updating litigation reports.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years PQE.
  • Bachelor's Degree in law from a reputable university along with Bar Admission.
  • Bilingual Arabic/English language verbally and written is highly desirable for this role.
  • Experience in structuring, negotiating, and drafting media and commercial transactions.
  • Experience in media, content, entertainment, technology transactions.
  • Experience in employment law.
  • Experience in intellectual Property law, including copyright, trademark and patent.
  • Ability to develop creative and pragmatic solutions to novel legal questions. Great legal and business judgment especially in ambiguous situations.
  • High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as business partner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and contract administration system.
