QA/QC Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I)

Job Title: QA/QC Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I)

Company Introduction:

We are a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, delivering complex and large-scale projects in substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), power generation, industrial plants, water treatment, and oil & gas infrastructure. We are currently seeking a skilled QA/QC Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) to ensure quality assurance and control across electrical and instrumentation works in accordance with project and industry standards.

Position Overview:

The QA/QC Engineer – E&I will be responsible for quality inspections, material verification, testing, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and applicable codes during the execution of electrical and instrumentation works. The role includes reviewing drawings, inspecting installations, conducting tests, issuing non-conformance reports (NCRs), and ensuring quality documentation for E&I systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Implementation:

  • Implement project-specific QA/QC procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and method statements for electrical and instrumentation works.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, ISA, NEC, ATEX, and project-specific standards.
  • Conduct internal audits to evaluate adherence to quality systems and ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented.

Electrical & Instrumentation Inspections:

  • Inspect cable laying, termination, earthing systems, lighting, panel installations, and calibration of instruments.
  • Monitor installation of control panels, field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level), and signal wiring.
  • Verify installation and calibration of PLC, SCADA, DCS, and other control systems.
  • Conduct incoming material inspections for cables, junction boxes, instruments, panels, and related items.
  • Verify compliance with approved material submittals, datasheets, and vendor documents.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and procurement for material traceability and storage conditions.
  • Witness and verify electrical continuity, insulation resistance, high voltage, loop checks, function tests, and instrument calibration.
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical panels, MCCs, field instruments, and control systems.
  • Ensure documentation of test results and compliance certificates.

NCR Management & Corrective Actions:

  • Identify and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any deviation from standards or approved procedures.
  • Coordinate with site teams to ensure timely rectification and closure of NCRs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and suggest preventive actions to avoid recurrence.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain up-to-date QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test records, calibration certificates, and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly QA/QC reports to management.
  • Support handover documentation and quality dossier preparation for client approval.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA/QC roles for E&I works in EPC or industrial projects.
  • Experience with power plants, substations, oil & gas, or water treatment plants is preferred.

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ISA, NEC, ATEX, and other electrical/instrumentation codes.
  • Proficient in using electrical and instrumentation testing tools and software.
  • Strong understanding of loop drawings, hook-up diagrams, cable schedules, and P&IDs.
  • Ability to manage QA/QC documentation and interact effectively with clients, consultants, and site teams.

Preferred Certifications:

  • SEC (Saudi Electricity Company) approval is a plus
  • Certified Instrumentation Engineer or equivalent QA/QC certifications
