**Your new role, what's involved?**
- **Material Characterization**: Conduct material testing and analysis, including mechanical testing, chemical analysis, and microscopy, to assess material properties and behavior.
- **Materials Development**: Research, develop, and test new materials or processes to improve performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
- **Process Optimization**: Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance material properties, reduce defects, and improve production efficiency.
- **Quality Assurance**: Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure the consistency and reliability of materials used in production.
- **Supplier Collaboration**: Work closely with suppliers to evaluate material specifications, resolve quality issues, and identify opportunities for innovation and cost savings.
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Ensure that materials and processes comply with relevant regulatory standards, industry specifications, and safety requirements.
- **Problem Solving**: Investigate material-related problems or failures, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate records of material specifications, test results, and process parameters. Prepare reports and documentation to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through material substitution, process optimization, and innovation.

**We'd love to hear from you if you have**:

- Bachelor's degree in materials science, metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of [15+] years of experience in materials engineering or a related field, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of materials science principles, including material properties, structure-property relationships, and processing techniques.
- Experience with material testing and characterization techniques, such as tensile testing, hardness testing, microscopy, and spectroscopy.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools for materials analysis and simulation (e.g., MATLAB, Finite Element Analysis).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies, such as casting, forging, welding, and additive manufacturing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all aspects of materials engineering.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Materials & Metallurgical Engineer) is desirable.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier visits, conferences, or training opportunities.
