**The Role**

Senior Associates co-lead, guide, and are strong collaborators and managers with the internal and external project team. They serve on a wide range of project types as either the project manager or project landscape architect. They are experts in the creation and synthesis of the overall project vision balancing aesthetic and technical considerations throughout all project phases. Senior Associates create and track project opportunities, risks, budgets, workplans, deliverables and project timelines.

Each project has a project leadership team which consists of a partner, a director in charge and a project manager. This trio meets regularly to promote the health of the project and team across our four pillars: Design and Technical Excellence, Financial sustainability and Culture.

Senior Associates work closely with the entire project team creating and guiding clear and efficient workflows, and innovative design iterations. Their work is always rooted in the project’s vision and goals, cultural, and environmental equity, and supports a holistic and inspired team culture. They understand and are champions of the client’s goals and build strong and sustainable client relationships through clear and timely communication and have mastered the art of project delivery at multiple scales.

Senior Associate understands and contributes to the overall C+P business strategy and the various business design support roles and systems. They have moved beyond mastery in project delivery and seek out a role that supports business operations. Tasks might include supporting formal mentorship initiatives, weekly staffing, drafting project proposals, business development and networking events, and interviews for new work.

The Senior Associate is known office-wide for their leadership in design and technical expertise and is recognized by consultants and clients as the champion of the broadest range of information for the project. Senior Associates have also begun to find ways to position themselves as leaders in their area of expertise both amongst peers and within the larger community through external board involvement, community service or speaking/writing engagements - through these activities they represent leadership and innovation within the industry.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Creatively and successfully leads internal and external teams of various sizes and complexity across multiple projects, implementing detailed work plans and cultivating a spirit of growth, collaboration, high morale, and efficiency.
- Initiates and develops proposals, fees, and assists in the negotiation of terms of initial contract agreements and additional services with clients.
- Executes requests for proposals, consultant negotiations/deliverables, and contractual obligations.
- Schedules and facilitates C+P’s project management processes and procedures from project team kick-off to project closeout using firm standards.
- Creatively and successfully leads internal and external teams of various sizes and complexity across multiple projects, implementing detailed work plans and cultivating a spirit of growth, collaboration, high morale, and efficiency.
- Generates, reviews, and establishes design concepts and strategies in support of project vision and goals through all stages of a project from concept to construction
- Navigates balance of design intent and other project requirements and synthesizes both internal and external team drawings and concepts.
- Leads the development of a verbal and graphic narrative that will support the design and preparation of complex presentations.
- Supports relationships with existing client, through regular project updates, communication of design ideas and regular communication and reporting as required, ultimately cultivating trusted relationships with the goal of successful project delivery and establishing opportunities for future work.
