As a Lighting and Cathodic Protection Designer, your role is to design lighting systems and cathodic protection systems for various projects, such as buildings, infrastructure, and industrial facilities. You will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop designs that meet project requirements, adhere to industry standards, and ensure the safety and functionality of the systems. Your objective is to create effective lighting designs and reliable cathodic protection systems that enhance visibility, aesthetics, and corrosion prevention.

**Responsibilities**
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their lighting and cathodic protection requirements, project objectives, and budget constraints. Assess site conditions and project specifications to determine system needs.
- Lighting Design: Develop lighting designs that meet the project's functional and aesthetic goals. Determine the type, quantity, and placement of lighting fixtures, considering factors such as lighting levels, energy efficiency, visual comfort, and architectural requirements
- Lighting Calculations: Perform lighting calculations, including illuminance levels, uniformity ratios, and glare analysis, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Optimize lighting designs for energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Lighting Controls: Specify and design lighting control systems, such as occupancy sensors, daylight sensors, and dimming controls, to enhance energy savings and user comfort. Integrate lighting controls with building automation or management systems, as required.
- Cathodic Protection Design: Design cathodic protection systems to prevent corrosion on structures, pipelines, or other metallic components. Determine the appropriate cathodic protection method, such as impressed current or sacrificial anode systems, based on project requirements and site conditions.
- Cathodic Protection Calculations: Perform cathodic protection calculations, including current requirements, anode sizing, and system design parameters. Analyze soil resistivity, structure-to-soil potential, and corrosion rates to ensure effective corrosion prevention.
- System Specifications: Prepare detailed specifications, drawings, and documentation for lighting and cathodic protection systems. Specify the required equipment, materials, and installation methods in accordance with industry standards and project requirements.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards for lighting and cathodic protection systems. Stay updated on industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Coordination and Collaboration: Collaborate with architects, engineers, electrical contractors, and other design professionals to integrate lighting and cathodic protection designs with the overall project design. Coordinate with other trades and disciplines to ensure compatibility and proper installation.
- Site Inspections and Troubleshooting: Conduct site visits and inspections to assess lighting and cathodic protection installations, verify compliance, and troubleshoot any issues. Provide guidance and technical support to contractors during installation and commissioning.

**Requirements**:

- Preferred Secret Clearance but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, or a related field.
- Professional licensure or certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in lighting design and/or cathodic protection design, preferably in architectural, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of lighting principles, lighting fixtures, lighting controls, and lighting calculation software.
- Familiarity with cathodic protection principles, corrosion prevention techniques, and relevant industry standards.
- Proficiency in CAD software and lighting design software.
- Understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and electrical codes and standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address lighting design challenges and corrosion prevention requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, design teams, and contractors.
- Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate project activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment and work in confined spaces.
