As an Irrigation System Designer, your role is to design efficient and sustainable irrigation systems for various projects, including landscaping, agricultural fields, parks, and golf courses. You will work closely with clients, landscape architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop irrigation plans that meet the specific needs of the project, optimize water usage, and promote healthy plant growth. Your objective is to create irrigation designs that ensure proper distribution of water, minimize waste, and support the overall landscape goals

**Responsibilities**
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their irrigation requirements, project objectives, and budget constraints. Assess the site conditions, including topography, soil type, and plant types, to determine irrigation needs.
- Irrigation System Design: Develop irrigation system designs that include appropriate irrigation methods, components, and layouts. Determine the placement and type of sprinklers, valves, controllers, pumps, and pipelines based on the site-specific requirements and water supply considerations.
- Water Source Evaluation: Assess available water sources for irrigation, such as municipal water supply, wells, or recycled water. Calculate water demand based on factors like plant water requirements, soil characteristics, and local climate conditions.
- Water Conservation and Efficiency: Incorporate water-saving techniques and technologies into the irrigation system design. Recommend features such as drip irrigation, soil moisture sensors, rain sensors, and weather-based controllers to optimize water usage and reduce waste.
- Hydraulic Analysis: Perform hydraulic calculations and analysis to ensure proper water distribution and pressure throughout the irrigation system. Consider factors such as pipe sizing, elevation changes, friction losses, and flow rates to maintain uniformity and efficiency.
- Specification and Material Selection: Specify irrigation components, materials, and equipment that align with the design requirements and industry standards. Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the selection of reliable and appropriate products.
- Irrigation Scheduling and Programming: Develop irrigation schedules and programming settings for automated controllers based on plant water requirements, soil moisture levels, and weather conditions. Ensure proper timing and duration of irrigation cycles for optimal plant health and water efficiency.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with landscape architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate the irrigation system design into the overall landscape design. Coordinate installation activities, including the placement of irrigation components and the connection to water sources.
- Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated on local regulations, water restrictions, and environmental guidelines related to irrigation systems. Ensure compliance with water conservation practices and relevant codes and standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and specifications for the irrigation system design. Create irrigation system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and material lists. Generate reports documenting the design process, including water usage projections and estimated irrigation efficiency.
- Other tasks assigned by HgP.

**Requirements**:

- Preferred Secret Clearance but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in irrigation system design, preferably in landscaping or agricultural projects.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation principles, techniques, and components, such as sprinklers, valves, pumps, and controllers.
- Familiarity with hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and irrigation system layout design.
- Understanding of plant water requirements, soil types, and climatic conditions that influence irrigation needs.
- Proficiency in design software, such as AutoCAD, GIS, or irrigation design tools.
- Knowledge of water conservation practices, regulations, and sustainable irrigation design principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, design teams, and contractors.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address site-specific irrigation challenges.
- Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate project activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
