Title: Design Director

KBR Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Design Director to lead the development of a major built environment and infrastructure programme for a mixed-use development in Riyadh. The project aims to create a global landmark recognized for its unique vision and position as an authentic destination in Riyadh.

THE ROLE

The Design Director will be responsible for leading the full development of all assets, excluding iconic buildings, for a major metropolitan region. The focus will be on a full design lifecycle development for PMC 1 scope of services related issues and innovative solutions challenges, implementation of policies, and management of a wide range of stakeholders.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage, develop, and coordinate the PMC scope of the Technical and Design Management Development of communities, districts, plots and assets ensuring that the strategies, plans and deliverables meet design and functional objectives including budgetary, environmental, and legal and compliance requirements.
  2. Driving Technical and delivery performance so that all milestones are met or exceeded without compromising cost targets, safety, security or quality.
  3. Directly managing the consultants engaged in design and production of design deliverables.
  4. Planning and coordinating the operations required for the PMC teams, design consultants, and contractors to function in a safe, secure, productive and collaborative environment.
  5. Validate project resourcing and design delivery plans, budgets, performance status, reports, forecast, trends, risks, and key decisions.
  6. Provide management and oversight of the interface with other disciplines within the PMC, incl. project controls, procurement, quality, risk and commercial, by ensuring that all objectives are being achieved including those related to cost, schedule, safety, quality, technology, security, logistics, and sustainability.
  7. Overlap between iconics and MC super packages Support DGCL technical team to staged design status at procurement of construction packages and how that is managed through to DD per individual asset.
  8. Ensure design transitions in role as design matures to construction / delivery PMC 3-7 when appointed.
  9. Support procurement of Managing Contracting Super packages maturity.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  1. BSc, engineering, architecture or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 20 years overall experience.
  3. Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role.
  4. Minimum of 5 years working in Middle East.
  5. Experience managing the facilities design, or the planning and coordination of capital projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities.
  6. Knowledge of operational aspects of civil & infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and utilities with experience in construction management and practice.
  7. Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  8. A high standard of spoken and written English should be a requirement.
  9. User of MS Office.
