About the Role

The Islamic Development Bank is seeking a skilled Youth Development Strategist to join its team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in promoting youth empowerment and development across our member countries.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of strategic initiatives related to youth empowerment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized support and expertise to Country Operations Managers, Operational Team Leaders, and Project Management Specialists in identifying, mainstreaming, and monitoring youth empowerment in Bank operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall Bank's efforts to support member countries in empowering youth.
  • Participate in project appraisal, design, processing, and approval as a team member along with relevant regional hubs.
  • Provide input on youth empowerment ensuring adherence to the IsDB Youth Development Strategy.
  • Mainstream youth empowerment in Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) formulation and country dialogues.
  • Coordinate the development of strategic policies, plans, guidelines, and other products related to youth empowerment.
  • Lead the design and development of youth empowerment initiatives, programs, and projects.
  • Implement frameworks, tools, and operational guidelines to support member countries in youth empowerment.
  • Monitor and assess initiatives related to youth empowerment programs and projects.
  • Contribute to the formulation of operational programs maximizing the utilization of resources.
  • Provide intellectual leadership on positioning the Global Practice (GP) internally and externally.
  • Provide advisory on GPs work on youth empowerment, identifying staff and learning needs.
  • Provide regional hub staff with technical guidance in operationalizing the Youth Development Strategy.
  • Work with the Lead Youth Empowerment Specialist to design and update policies and strategies.
  • Lead the monitoring of the implementation of IsDB Youth Development Strategy.
  • Identify and report on projects mainstreaming youth empowerment.
  • Participate in the formulation of relevant policies and guidance notes.
  • Liaise with clients, NGOs, academia, and development partners to promote youth empowerment.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships to mobilize resources for youth development.
  • Organize and contribute to platforms and events to enhance the visibility of the Bank.
  • Lead knowledge sharing and dissemination events on youth empowerment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in youth development, social development, economics, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience (3 years in a developing country context).
  • Master's degree / PhD in relevant field preferred (Master's = 2 years experience; PhD = 4 years experience).
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of youth empowerment.
  • Professional experience in socio-economic development and mainstreaming youth issues.
  • Experience with IFIs/Development Agencies/Multilateral Development Banks preferred.
