About the Role

Asterix Communications is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Project Director to join our team.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the execution of construction projects, ensuring timely completion, and meeting budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Business Development: Contribute to the development of the Engineering Projects business plan, ensuring alignment with the company's overall strategy.
  2. Operational Planning: Develop the operational plan for Execution Management in line with the Engineering Projects business plan and Engineering Affairs strategic plan.
  3. Goal Achievement: Implement plans and provide input to enable achievement of Execution Management goals that support the company's overall strategic plans.
  4. Budgeting: Discuss budgeting requirements with top management and provide input to the budgeting process.
  5. Financial Management: Ensure effective utilization of the Execution Management budget and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.
  6. Risk Management: Investigate and propose implementing initiatives that result in positive financial impact for Execution Management and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  7. Process Oversight: Oversee execution process guidelines and objectives, ensuring alignment with design objectives.
  8. Contractor Selection: Review and select best-fit construction contractors based on expertise and proposed execution plan to ensure effective construction activities.
  9. Submittal Review: Conduct meetings with internal stakeholders to review construction submittals and recommend needed adjustments and changes.
  10. Project Kick-Off: Lead project kick-off meeting after approving the final submittals with contractors to agree on timeline, measurable milestones, and divide tasks between internal stakeholders and contractors.
  11. Site Handover: Participate in committees responsible for site handing over, securing entry permits for contractors to facilitate implementation of execution activities.
  12. Progress Monitoring: Review constantly progress reports and discuss highlighted discrepancies and concerns with related stakeholders to assess the gaps between the plan and execution, providing related corrective actions and ways of improvement.
  13. Contractor Performance: Participate in regular meetings with contractors to discuss site updates and potential changes and recommend accordingly needed corrective actions.
  14. Variation Orders: Ensure construction contractors' presentation of variation orders to study and approve the changes, ensuring alignment with budget and scope of work.
  15. Contractor Evaluation: Review construction contractors' performance, ensuring alignment with contracts requirements to facilitate future engagement when needed.
  16. Talent Acquisition: Participate in the identification and recruitment of key talent.
  17. Team Management: Guide, mentor, and support direct reports in order to execute duties according to set policies and processes.
  18. Performance Management: Develop individual performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate/appraise team, and provide regular feedback on performance.
  19. Culture Development: Establish a high-performance working environment and promote the company's values.
Requirements:

An optimal of 8 years of relevant experience, with a preferred 3 years of experience in managerial level.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent is required.

Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
