About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Customer Application Engineer to join our team at Precision Hire Solution. As a key member of our sales and commercial operations team, you will be responsible for influencing and positioning our company with customers and defining the best technical solution and strategy for firm proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with our sales team to establish a pre-proposal level of technical information flow to develop gas power projects.
  2. Proactively assess product fit and define an influencing strategy to best position our company prior to firm bid. Our products include Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine, Aeroderivative Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator.
  3. Inform customers about our technology and solutions through in-person and online presentations.
  4. Respond to customer requests for technical information prior to RFP, including providing transmission interconnect data and emissions for permitting.
  5. Gather from customers and other sources information about each opportunity and the customer's development plan, strategy, and evaluation method.
  6. Use thermodynamic modeling software to model Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CC), and Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plants.
  7. Work cross-functionally to conduct configuration optimization on all opportunities for the assigned customers.
  8. Conduct economic life-cycle evaluation analysis of our and competitor solutions for projects prior to RFP.
  9. Work closely with our sales team and within the broader Applications Engineering and Product Line Management teams to ensure optimum company competitiveness.
  10. Define and communicate to the proposal team the project background, optimum configuration, necessary approvals obtained, and bid strategy.
  11. Gather competitive data and support post-win and post-mortem analyses.
  12. Analyze and report back to the business regional customer needs and trends.
  13. Provide customer feedback to internal functions regarding the preferred configuration designs and strategy.
  14. Promote, train, and support regional teams to strengthen their technical knowledge and ensure the use of common platforms and tools across the entire global network of application engineers.
  15. Proactively promote and position our company early in the project phase to create value and influence by working closely with consultants, developers, EPCs, industry OEM partners, and customers.
  16. Prioritize work by focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and cost in that order; demonstrate ability to say no to protect higher priorities.
  17. Integrate region-specific customer views on life-cycle value into strategic planning (new production introduction and growth playbook).
  18. Provide technical expertise to sales and commercial operations in selecting, implementing, and developing competitive product applications.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  2. Proven years of experience in engineering, sales, or commercial operation with a strong technical and commercial background in power generation.
  3. Proven analytical skill set and strategic mindset.
  4. Self-driven with ability to work in a global team.
  5. Provides thorough, timely, and accurate reviews of others' work with honest, clear, and constructive feedback.
  6. Serves as a technical advisor, mentor, and teacher to other team members and functions.
  7. Strong communication skills and fluency in Arabic and English.
  8. Ability and willingness to travel regularly (up to ~20%) over a wide region for customer meetings or events.

Desired Qualifications / Characteristics

  1. Advanced Engineering degree is a plus.
  2. Strong communication skills and fluency in French.
  3. At least 10 years of technical and commercial experience within the power generation industry.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of our Gas Power products and technology (Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine and/or Aeroderivatives, Steam Turbine, CC, CHP), processes, and organizational structure.
  5. Experience in Thermal performance simulation tools (GTP, Ebsilon, etc).
  6. Prior experience in engineering, construction, or operation of large power plants.
  7. Proactively seeks broad input to bound decisions and stays informed with the latest industry trends.
  8. Engage in development opportunities to improve both their own capabilities as well as that of the organization.
  9. Keeps customer and business impacts in forefront of problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  10. Enthusiastically practices lean, helps build, and ensures adherence to standard work and utilizes continuous improvement principles and tools in daily work to drive better outcomes.
