About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Concept Design Director to join our team at the Saudi Tourism Authority. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of tourism in Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Strategic Plans: Contribute to the design and implementation of the Sector's strategy and roadmap by providing function-specific inputs.
  2. Lead the Concept Design Department: Establish and implement the Department's operational plans in support of the Sector's overall strategic plan and KPIs.
  3. Manage Budget and Resources: Prepare the Concept Design Department's annual budget and participate in the Division's budgeting cycle and process.
  4. Drive Innovation and Growth: Investigate and propose implementing strategies that result in positive financial impact for STA and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  5. Develop Iconic Concepts: Develop architectural-based national concepts approved for funding.
  6. Lead a Team of Architects and Designers: Manage a team of architects and designers, providing them with direction on projects to develop architectural concepts for touristic ideas.
  7. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Coordinate with the heads of different departments to determine design requirements, including reviewing ideas and projects to enhance the overall tourist experience.
  8. Develop Plans for New Construction Projects: Develop plans for new construction projects, remodeling existing structures, or improving the functionality of existing space.
  9. Review and Improve Designs: Review architectural and urban/master plans for compliance to regulations and identify ways to improve the design of structures based on feedback about the different experiences.
  10. Communicate with Stakeholders: Meet with architectural developers to discuss experience design details such as visuals and different experience aids.
  11. Present Designs: Create diagrams, renderings, and other visual representations of architectural concepts.
  12. Improve Departmental Policies: Propose improvements to the Concept Design Department's policies, and ensure the implementation of procedures and controls across all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high-quality and cost-effective results.
  13. Monitor and Evaluate Performance: Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures.
  14. Develop and Implement Improvement Initiatives: Stimulate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  15. Manage and Develop Direct Reports: Manage, guide and assist direct reports to perform their functional operations in accordance with set policies and procedures.
  16. Identify and Recruit Key Talent: Participate in identifying and recruiting key talent for the Concept Design Department.
  17. Promote a High-Performance Culture: Promote a high-performance working environment embracing STA's values.
  18. Build and Maintain Relationships: Build and maintain solid relations with external stakeholders such as governmental entities and consultants to serve STA's best interest.
  19. Support Peers and Organization: Assist the organization and supporting peers when needed to perform their duties.
  20. Approve Reports and Presentations: Approving reports and presentations related to Concept Design Department activities and achievements for reporting and decision-making.
Requirements
  1. Education: A bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent is preferred.
  2. Master's Degree: A master's degree in architecture or equivalent is preferred.
  3. Experience: Not less than 10 years of experience in architecture, design, or in any relevant field.
