Role Overview

This role plays a pivotal part in driving the vision and evolving AspenTech's Design System. Collaboration with design, development, product, and brand stakeholders is crucial for evolving visual language, components, patterns, documentation, and delivery. The successful candidate will set the bar for design quality across the organization and act as an Accessibility evangelist. Additionally, they will mentor junior designers, ensuring design best practices and high-quality standards across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design beautiful, high-quality components and patterns in a systematic manner.

  • Elevate visual design language to create a modern user experience aligning with AspenTech's brand identity.

  • Promote Accessibility and advocate for its importance within the organization.

  • Collaborate with development to ensure seamless implementation and adoption in products.

  • Engage with senior leadership and functional leaders to craft and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for the Design System.

  • Align expectations, goals, and guidelines among cross-functional teams.

  • Maintain the Design System documentation website.

  • Evangelize Aspen UX internally and externally.

  • Mentor and invest in team members.

Requirements
  • Degree in human-centered design, visual design, computer science, research, or psychology.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in web or product design.
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing expertise in scaling visual and motion design concepts.
  • Excellent visual design skills focusing on clean, modern interfaces.
  • Expert knowledge in Accessibility and WCAG guidelines.
  • Self-driven nature with ability to lead and collaborate within a team.
  • Systems thinking ability to extrapolate and extend shared patterns/behaviors.
  • Professional experience with Figma and deep understanding of web technology.
  • Excellent communication skills making complex ideas clear and concise.
