Job Summary

The Procurement Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day procurement operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, and optimizing procurement processes. This role involves overseeing procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Procurement Management
    Oversee and manage the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring that procurement activities are conducted efficiently and in accordance with company policies. Process purchase orders, manage supplier relationships, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet operational needs. Monitor procurement performance and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  2. Supplier Relationship Management
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and conditions to achieve favorable pricing and service levels. Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards. Resolve any issues or disputes with suppliers, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  3. Cost Management
    Monitor and manage procurement costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings and value optimization. Implement cost-saving initiatives and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to achieve budgetary targets. Prepare and manage procurement budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
  4. Process Improvement
    Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency, reduce cycle times, and increase overall effectiveness. Leverage technology and best practices to streamline procurement processes and improve data visibility and decision-making. Ensure standardization of procurement procedures and adherence to company policies and industry regulations.
  5. Compliance & Risk Management
    Ensure that procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements. Develop and enforce procurement policies and procedures to maintain high levels of compliance and mitigate risks. Identify and address procurement risks, including supplier risks, contract risks, and market fluctuations.
  6. Team Leadership & Development
    Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and professional growth. Oversee the recruitment, performance management, and development of procurement staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment within the procurement department.
  7. Reporting & Communication
    Prepare and present reports on procurement performance, including key metrics, cost savings, and process improvements. Communicate procurement strategies, goals, and achievements to senior management and other stakeholders. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and operational planning.
Qualifications
  1. Education
    Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS) are preferred.
  2. Experience
    Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 2-4 years in a managerial role. Experience in [specific industry or sector] is desirable. Proven track record of managing procurement operations, supplier relationships, and cost management.
  3. Skills
    Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Proficient in procurement software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on process improvement and cost management.
