Job Overview:

As a key member of our team, the HSE Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental policies and systems are implemented effectively on the ground. This involves detecting potential hazards, reviewing safety procedures, disseminating safety information, training staff, and conducting emergency exercises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safe working practices and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and standards, including those related to environmental protection.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate them.
  • Compile statistics and reports on safety performance, including incident and accident investigations.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and make recommendations for improvement to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide health and safety training to employees and managers to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely.
  • Undertake risk assessments and identify ways to reduce risks, and implement controls to mitigate them.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Organize and attend health and safety meetings and training sessions to ensure that all team members are aware of their responsibilities and roles in maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a construction site environment.
  • Previous experience as an Officer in a similar role, with a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and procedures, including those related to environmental protection.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • CPR/First Aid certification, with the ability to respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
