About the Role

Afaq - Warehouse Branch is seeking a highly skilled WHS Officer to join our team. As a WHS Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead Site Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for current and new activities to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  2. Establish WHS Training Matrix: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to ensure all employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely.
  3. Implement WHS Standards and Guidelines: Develop and implement site-specific WHS standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  4. Lead WHS Objectives and Programs: Develop and implement WHS objectives and programs to promote a culture of safety and well-being among employees.
  5. Promote a Safe Culture: Provide daily WHS content to shift briefings to promote a safe culture among employees and encourage them to report any safety concerns.
  6. Perform Site Safety Audits: Conduct regular site safety audits to identify non-compliance equipment and/or processes and work with the Operations team to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
  7. Attend to Incidents and Occupational Injury Cases: Investigate and respond to incidents and occupational injury cases on site, and provide guidance and support to area managers on incident investigations and communication of lessons learned.
  8. Audit Record-Keeping Practices: Ensure that Gensuite entries are aligned with global WHS standards and local regulations, and audit record-keeping practices to ensure compliance.
  9. Ensure PPE Inventory and Coordination: Ensure that the PPE inventory at site is accurate and up-to-date, and coordinate with procurement for order placement.
  10. Key Safety Requirement (KSR) Audit: Conduct weekly KSR audits to monitor and support the implementation of safety requirements.
  11. Ensure Basic Fire Fighting and First Aid Training: Ensure that all employees have completed basic fire fighting and first aid training, and coordinate with the Operations team to implement training programs.
  12. Daily Powered Industrial Tool and Trailer Dock Release Inspection: Conduct daily inspections of powered industrial tools and trailer dock releases to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  13. Daily Action Tracking System Monitoring: Monitor the Action Tracking System to ensure that all safety actions are completed in a timely manner.
  14. Participate in Site Management Safety Walk: Participate in site management safety walks to identify unsafe acts and conditions, and provide insight to management.
  15. Provide Daily Updates to Country WHS Manager: Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on objectives progress, incidents, KSR, ATS, network actions, etc.
  16. Prepare WHS Committee Meeting Agenda: Prepare the WHS committee meeting agenda, MOM write-up, ATS creation, and other related documents.
  17. Daily Permit to Work Review and Sign-off: Review and sign off on daily permits to work to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  18. Lead on WHS Related Procurement: Lead on WHS related procurement and follow up to ensure that all necessary safety equipment and supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
  19. Prepare Emergency Response Plans: Prepare emergency response plans to ensure that the site is prepared for any emergency situation.
  20. Manage and Conduct Emergency Drills: Manage and conduct emergency drills to ensure that employees are prepared for any emergency situation.
  21. Manage Preparation and Training of Emergency Drills: Manage the preparation and training of emergency drills to ensure that employees are prepared for any emergency situation.
  22. Heat Index Establishment, Monitoring, and Support: Establish, monitor, and support the heat index program to ensure that employees are protected from heat-related illnesses.
  23. Provide Support to Site-Specific Requests: Provide support to site-specific requests, unplanned events, and activities to ensure that the site is running safely and efficiently.
  24. Conduct Daily and Weekly WHS Audits: Conduct daily and weekly WHS audits to identify non-compliance equipment and/or processes and work with the Operations team to implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering/Science: A bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or engineering/science is required.
  2. +2 Years of Experience in OSH Field: +2 years of experience in the OSH field is required, with good communication skills in English.
  3. Strong Communication, Teamwork, Analysis, Judgment, and Customer Focus Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills are required.
  4. Ability to Adapt to Fast-Paced Environments: The ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy is required.
  5. Experience Leading and Managing a Team: Experience leading and managing a team is required.
  6. Ability to Analyze Accident Data, New Processes, and Machinery: The ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses is required.
  7. Experienced in Emergency Response and First Aid and CPR Certificates: Experience in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificates is required.
  8. Experience in Worker's Compensation Case Management: Experience in worker's compensation case management is required.
  9. Analyzing and Manipulating Data: Analyzing and manipulating data is required.
  10. Passion for Safety: A passion for safety is required.
