Job Summary

Parsons Oman is seeking a highly skilled Senior Sustainability and Environmental Manager to lead our Sustainability and Environmental Function across the Qiddiya Program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Government, Client, and Parsons requirements regarding sustainability and environmental protection and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Deploy Sustainability Strategy: Develop and deploy a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with Parsons Oman's business objectives and industry best practices.
  • Provide Oversight of Project-Level Risks: Provide oversight of project-level risks related to sustainability and environmental protection, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts.
  • Work in Partnership with Clients and Stakeholders: Work in partnership with clients and stakeholders to ensure that sustainability and environmental considerations are integrated into all aspects of the project.
  • Represent Parsons Oman and the Client: Represent Parsons Oman and the client as required, and provide expert advice on sustainability and environmental matters.
  • Develop and Implement E&S Program Activities: Develop and implement a range of E&S program activities in delivery, including development/design, permitting, and construction.
  • Implement E&S Input into Contract Formation: Implement E&S input into contract formation, procurement, tendering, award, and implementation, including writing E&S sections of RFPs and defining employer requirements.
  • Provide Project Management of EIA Consultants: Provide project management of EIA consultants to ensure that the correct permits are obtained to support construction delivery.
  • Implement E&S Design Review Process: Implement an E&S design review process/system whereby at every design gate, there is an E&S hold point for a check of relevant content.
  • Review and Manage Delivery of Client's Monthly Management Information Report: Review and manage the delivery of the client's monthly management information report, including environmental, waste, and sustainability performance.
  • Develop Supplier Relationships: Develop supplier relationships to manage delivery of environmental and sustainability improvements and report on progress made.
  • Monitor Emerging Sustainability-Related Legal Compliance: Monitor emerging sustainability-related legal compliance, as well as Government and industry best practice.
  • Apply Knowledge and Drive Best Practice: Apply knowledge and drive best practice to meet sustainable standards, and manage contractors and the wider supply chain relating to environmental and sustainability performance and improvements.
  • Champion Sustainability and Environmental Awareness Campaigns: Champion campaigns to promote engagement in program sustainability/environmental awareness campaigns.
  • Assist Client with Developing and Implementing Sustainability Strategy: Assist the client with developing and implementing a sustainability strategy.
  • Advise Program Exec Team on Emerging Legislation: Advise the Program Exec Team of potential business risks associated with emerging legislation and recommend solutions.
  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts: Consult with subject matter experts to utilize the most up-to-date guidance and codes of practice and communicate clearly and appropriately to staff throughout Parsons.
  • Deliver Presentations and Training: Deliver presentations and training to staff and stakeholders on sustainability and environmental matters.
  • Drive Continues Improvement and Positive Change: Drive continues improvement and positive change in sustainability and environmental performance.
Requirements
  • Broad Experience of Delivering E&S Management Programs: Broad experience of delivering environment and sustainability (E&S) management programs on large design/construction projects, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Related Field: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in environmental science, environmental health, environmental law, environmental engineering, and/or sustainability.
  • Professional Membership of Relevant Institution: Professional membership of relevant institution (e.g. IEMA, CIWM, CIBSE).
  • Good Understanding of Legislative Requirements: Good understanding of legislative requirements, including SECR, ESOS, European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPCs/DECs/TM44 air conditioning inspections), MEES, Waste Management.
  • Experience of Environmental Management Systems: Experience of Environmental Management Systems (ISO CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant or Assessor).
  • LEED or BREEAM Assessor: LEED or BREEAM assessor.
  • Financial Business Case Development: Financial business case development (MACC, OPEX, CAPEX, NPV).
  • Experience of Working with or for a Construction Client, Contractor, or Consultancy: Experience of working with or for a construction client, contractor, or consultancy.
  • Experience of Working on a Mega Construction Project: Experience of working on a mega construction project.
  • Detail-Oriented People Person: Detail-oriented people person with a passion for sustainability and environmental protection, exceptional communications skills, and comfortable navigating a large-scale, complex business.
