Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead

Business Line Specific Context:

Asterix Communications is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineering Discipline Lead to join our team as part of our Technical Excellence Team. We're looking for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in building services design to drive excellence in projects, engineering, delivery, quality, and processes.

Job Description

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Technical Leadership: Lead the Electrical Engineering team with technical expertise. Serve as the primary technical authority for the delivery team.
  2. Developing Quality and Process Management:
    1. Define and implement QA/QC processes.
    2. Apply and oversee policies related to process, quality, and training.
    3. Ensure accuracy and technical correctness in QAQC documentation.
    4. Actively participate in QA/QC processes and end-of-stage reviews.
  3. Team Development and Motivation: Train, develop, and guide engineers and design teams. Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  4. Project Contribution: Contribute to all project stages from inception to detailed delivery. Conduct regular stage reviews and gather client feedback for improvements.
  5. Documentation and Standards:
    1. Standardize documentation, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
    2. Update specifications and work with site teams to integrate lessons learned.
    3. Maintain a comprehensive library of documentation and keep the team updated on the latest regulations.
  6. Industry Engagement and Knowledge Sharing:
    1. Keep the team updated on industry developments, technologies, and innovations.
    2. Engage in professional societies, contribute papers, and participate in conferences.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Possess knowledge of buildability, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk, and claim assessment.
  2. Demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
  3. Exhibit strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ensure Health & Safety practices are embedded in all work in line with company policies.
Profile

EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum of 12 years' experience, 8 years' experience in Middle East.
  2. Proven track record in building services design with different types of sectors, including high rise, commercial, residential, retail, Healthcare, Industrial, refurbishment, etc.
  3. Proven record as a Discipline Lead Expert.
  4. Proven record as a discipline lead on complex projects.
  5. Experienced at:
    1. Developing complex solutions
    2. Writing reports and specifications
    3. Implementing innovation
    4. Thorough understanding of the design process
    5. Presenting to clients

TECHNICAL SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Proven ability to carry out both manual and computer aided calculations, problem solving, technical and financial analyses, etc.
  2. Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and engineering specific software.
  3. Detailed knowledge of BIM / digitalisation techniques and standards.
  4. Strong software capability and proficiency in Hevacomp, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks.
  5. Excellent knowledge of local and international design standards, BSEN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA etc.
  6. Excellent knowledge of local statutory authorities' regulations and submission requirements across Middle East, mainly UAE and KSA.
  7. Advanced knowledge of Electrical Engineering, Water, Drainage systems, Distribution, Hot Water Systems and FLS design.
  8. Sustainable design practices and technologies.
  9. Maintain and participate in CPD events to develop own expertise.
