Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our Loss Prevention organization. As a key member of our team, you will provide day-to-day support to our operations, ensuring the highest level of safety in petroleum engineering, exploration, drilling, and workover activities. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and implementing safety processes, conducting inspections, and identifying areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Safety Processes: Facilitate the implementation of our Safety Management System, including developing associated safety processes and participating in self-assessments.
- Conduct Inspections and Risk Assessments: Inspect onshore and offshore drilling rigs, workover equipment, and other support facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Identify and Mitigate Risks: Identify, evaluate, and recommend actions to mitigate critical safety tasks and control methodologies related to operational safety practices.
- Participate in Safety Studies and Activities: Participate in safety studies and activities using risk assessment and mitigation methodologies, such as PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, compliance reviews, or insurance surveys.
- Develop and Review Safety Standards: Develop and/or review corporate safety standards, instructions, and procedures related to upstream operations and formalize them into company-documented practices as required.
- Review Facility Designs: Review designs of oil and gas field facilities for compliance with company and industry safety standards.
- Develop Emergency Response Plans: Assist in the development of Emergency Response Plans for credible scenarios.
- Respond to Emergencies: Respond to emergency situations and incidents, either during or after regular working hours, to provide technical assistance and advice.
- Investigate Incidents: Support the reporting, classification, and investigation of all incidents, and participate in incident investigations, determination of root causes, and proper recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver Training and Mentorship: Deliver Loss Prevention-specific training to employees, contractors, and outside parties, and mentor other LP personnel.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline from an accredited institution and have seven years of relevant oil and gas upstream industry experience, including a strong track record in delivering results. This would include areas such as drilling and workover operations, well planning and approval, reservoir management, geology and geophysics, project management for upstream facilities development, oil and gas field development, simultaneous operations between upstream and construction/downstream operations, offshore and onshore drilling rig safety inspections, managerial audits/assessments, and safety program and emergency response plans development. The candidate will have an excellent ability to communicate in English with peers as well as members of management and be able to produce clear and concise oral and written reports in English. A working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) is also required.
