Job Title: Material Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Material Engineer to work with our team at Duncan & Ross. As a key member of our design development projects, you will be responsible for managing and evaluating materials for construction projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities:

  • Select and evaluate construction materials, including concrete, steel, aggregates, and specialty materials, based on project specifications, performance criteria, and environmental conditions.
  • Implement quality assurance and control procedures to ensure materials meet project standards, specifications, and codes. Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify compliance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to design and construction teams regarding material specifications, performance characteristics, and best practices for material usage.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source and procure materials that meet project requirements. Review and approve material submittals, technical data sheets, and samples from vendors.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in construction materials, technologies, and standards. Conduct research on innovative materials and sustainable practices to integrate into projects and improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including material specifications, test results, compliance reports, and material approval logs. Ensure records are accurate, complete, and readily available for audits and reviews.
  • Work closely with structural, civil, architectural, and MEP teams to ensure proper integration of materials into overall project designs. Provide input on material compatibility, durability, and lifecycle performance.
  • Ensure selected materials comply with local regulations, project specifications, Saudi Building Codes, and relevant international standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in material engineering, preferably in design development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, testing methods, and construction industry standards.
  • Experience with quality control procedures and material testing for large-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with local and international construction material standards and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software tools for material management and quality control.
