Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the primary engineering of GIS and AIS substations, including layouts, earthing, cabling, lightning protection, sizing calculations, BOQ estimation, RFQ, supplier offer verification, FAT, and MV system.
  • Secondary engineering of GIS and AIS substations, including protection, relay panels, LCCs, SCADA/RTU/SCMS, FMS/DFR, Telecom, control cabling, CT/VT sizing, sizing calculations, BOQ estimation, RFQ, supplier offer verification, FAT, and MV system.
  • Engineering of Auxiliaries of GIS & AIS substations, including LV AC boards, service/auxiliary transformers, earthing transformers, DC system - batteries and battery chargers, UPS, inverter, security system, CCTV, access control, EPABX, sizing calculations, BOQ estimation, RFQ, supplier offer verification, FAT, and etc.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines for substation projects and tenders.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for scheduled progress of projects and tenders.
  • Review of equipment specifications and BOQ for supplier inquiries, technical offer review, monitoring and coordination of supplier deliverables, resolution of technical issues during FAT, and etc.
  • Follow the engineering processes, change management, risk and opportunities management, and other relevant processes during project execution and tendering.
  • Coordinate with customer or consultant for document approvals as per project schedule.
  • Coordinate with site team for technical matters during installation, testing, and commissioning, punch point closure, and etc.

About You

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum 12 to 14 years of work experience is required, of which 3-4 years of experience in a lead role is a must.
  • Work experience in design & engineering, handling various utility substation projects in the Middle East (SEC, NG SA Transco, DEWA, FEWA Kahramaa, EWA etc.) in a lead role is preferred with exposure to 33kV/132kV/220kV/400kV GIS and AIS projects.
  • Understanding of installation, testing, and commissioning requirements to effectively support the preparation of testing protocols and site activities is preferred.
  • Detailed domain expertise in one of the domains (either primary or secondary) is a must. The candidate must have knowledge of other domains for effectively monitoring and supervising the regular project engineering activities.
  • Experience of relay setting and coordination, knowledge of protection & control IEDs, and in preparation and review of LVAC, DC system sizing calculations, preparation and review of IO list, CT/VT sizing, control cable list, and termination list, etc.
  • Estimation of BOQ for RFQs during project and tender stage, supplier offer evaluations, witnessing FAT, and issue resolutions, etc.
  • Experience of coordination with civil and MEP disciplines in the substation, inputs for civil and MEP engineering, interfaces, coordination check with civil & MEP services, etc., and preparing BOQ, deviation list, clarifications, technical proposals for tenders and customer inquiries for firm and budgetary tenders.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
