AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This encompasses the management of data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure customers have uninterrupted access to innovative services.

The Regional Operations Manager oversees one or more Amazon Web Services (AWS) Datacenter Clusters and PoP-scale deployments within a designated region in mainland Europe. As the senior Infrastructure Operations role within the region, this position has managerial responsibility for safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency. The Infrastructure Operations organizations consist of four functions: compute operations, engineering operations, logistics, and security. Compute operations focuses on server-level platforms that support both Amazon Retail and Amazon Web Services, while engineering operations manages mechanical, electrical, and controls systems that sustain critical environments. Logistics operations executes materials planning and control to support ongoing operations and expansions, and security operations is responsible for physical security of people, assets, and customer data.

This position requires collaboration with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The Regional Infrastructure Operations Manager plays a key role in the management team operating and scaling the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure. This position encounters complex problems daily, and as a technical manager, you can innovate solutions to address these issues and drive operational excellence in all areas of your role. You will refine and develop processes to optimize operational performance and have a passion for technology.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including compute operations managers, engineering operations managers, logistics operations managers, and security operations managers.
  2. Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency.
  3. Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS datacenter build outs and expansions, including server hardware installation, troubleshooting, and repair, security system installation, and related Operations tasks.
  4. Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon datacenters, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management.
  5. Vendor management of colocation datacenter services providers to meet contracted performance SLAs.
  6. Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and resolution.
  7. Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
