The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Web Engineering Manager to join our team. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of web engineers and driving the development of our web-based products. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that your team is growing as web engineers, doing valuable work, and generally having a great time at Asterix Communications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate proactively with a distributed team to drive the development of our web-based products.
  2. Write high-quality code to create new features and debug issues to produce high-quality code to fix them.
  3. Consistently provide high-quality code reviews to other engineers and demonstrate sound engineering principles by directly contributing to your team's goals.
  4. Estimate work, set goals, and meet them, and write briefs, epics, and specifications and understand risks.
  5. Work from home with global travel 4 to 6 weeks for internal and external events and understand completion criteria and push work to completion.
  6. Help mentor other engineers and manage staff, work to reduce complexity, and effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  7. Support timely delivery of technical solutions to address business needs, advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices, and help develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices.
  8. Build and lead a globally distributed team of web engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development, and grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values.
  9. Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the organisation.

Requirements

  1. You are knowledgeable and passionate about web and software development, and you are curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
  2. You try to learn and use web best practices in your work, and you value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.
  3. You have a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar degree, and you have solid experience working in an agile development environment.
  4. You drive work to completion, take operational considerations into account, and follow industry trends and new technologies.
  5. You're capable of representing your team as a subject matter expert, and you have the ability to own architecture and solve larger technical challenges.
  6. You're seen as a trusted advisor for your area of expertise within Asterix Communications, and you love developing and growing healthy teams and have a track record of doing it.
  7. You value getting things done by turning product vision into executable strategy.
