About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Learning and Development to join our team at Shangri-La Group. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in driving cultural and organizational transformation through the development of function excellence among our Team Members.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Training Needs Analysis and Planning: Conduct thorough training needs analysis to identify gaps in skills and knowledge, and develop plans to address these needs.
  2. Training Implementation and Monitoring: Organize and monitor training activities to ensure they are aligned with hotel goals and objectives, and assist in the implementation of systems and programs in employee relations and revenue generation.
  3. Core Competencies: Develop and maintain expertise in areas such as training needs analysis, training planning, implementation, and monitoring, as well as hotel orientation and induction, trainer skills, and trainer evaluation.
  4. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess training needs based on performance monitor reports, performance development reviews, employee feedback, guest comments, business results, and observation.
  5. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with training need analysis as per SLIM guidelines, and implement quality assurance measures to ensure the effectiveness of training programs.
  6. Training Program Development: Assist in developing internal programs, prepare trainer's kits, and obtain structured feedback from participants of major training programs.
  7. Orientation and Induction: Conduct monthly orientation for new hires, introduce Shangri-La Group's vision, mission, philosophy, guiding principles, and core service skills and knowledge training.
  8. Training Evaluation and Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of orientation and induction programs, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  9. Trainer Development and Support: Ensure the cascading of SLA Trainer Skill I and II, especially for identified departmental trainers, and implement course evaluation for programs such as orientation, Shangri-La Care, IM, trainer skills, language training, and STAR training.
  10. Communication and Networking: Foster beneficial communication and networking with relevant external agencies and organizations, and assist in coordinating the scheduled performance development review.
  11. Project Management: Carry out other projects assigned by management, such as environmental protection, process improvement, performance monitor team, customer delight program, and others.
  12. Library Operations: Oversee library operations, ensuring loaning out procedures are implemented, and there is a periodic publication of library materials available for staff use.
  13. Product Knowledge Manual: Personally responsible for updating the Product Knowledge Manual on a regular basis.
  14. Guest Service: Assist guests directly and indirectly in order to provide them with a delightful staying experience in the hotel.
  15. Environmental Awareness: Be environmentally friendly, reduce waste, recycle when possible, and reuse whenever applicable.
Requirements
  1. Experience: At least 2 years as a Training Manager in a similar size hotel.
  2. Knowledge and Skills: Thorough knowledge of modern learning and development tools and techniques, behavioral science/psychology graduate, self-starter, team-builder, goals-oriented, tactful and sensitive to colleague needs, demonstrated ability to develop interpersonal relationships, exceptional presentation and grooming, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
