Job Title: National Professional Officer - Aromatic Plants Expert

Job Summary:

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Professional Officer - Aromatic Plants Expert to join its team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MoEWA) in the development and implementation of sustainable aromatic plant production programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to MoEWA in the development and implementation of aromatic plant production programs, including the identification and promotion of sustainable and efficient best agronomic practices.
  2. Programme Development and Management: Coordinate and manage the development and implementation of programme and project proposals, including the identification of funding opportunities and the preparation of project component progress reports.
  3. Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity building support to MoEWA staff and other stakeholders on aromatic plant production and management.
  4. Collaboration and Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with national and international institutions, including the private sector, to promote the development of aromatic plant production in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Requirements:
  1. Nationality: National of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  2. Education: Advanced university degree in plant production/breeding, agronomy or any other related field.
  3. Experience: Five years of relevant experience in development of aromatic plants, and trade and/or project management.
  4. Language: Working knowledge (proficient – level C) of Arabic and limited knowledge (intermediate – level B) of English.

  3. Policy Analysis: Extent and relevance of experience in policy analysis relating to food and nutrition security.
  4. Country Data Collection: Extent and relevance of experience in the collection of country data.
  5. Programme and Project Proposal Development: Extent and relevance of experience in the identification, formulation and preparation of programme and project proposals.
