Roles and responsibilities

To be eligible to apply, you must meet the below criteria:

Should be a Saudi national.

Should have a bachelor's degree or above.

Should not have been employed or registered in GOSI for the last six months.

Should not have previously participated in the Tamheer program.
Sample Collection and Preparation
Collecting Samples: Gathering specimens such as blood, urine, saliva, tissue, or other bodily fluids from patients for analysis. This may include venipuncture (blood draws) or other procedures, depending on the type of test.
Processing and Labeling: Ensuring that all samples are properly labeled, categorized, and stored according to laboratory protocols to prevent contamination or mix-ups.
Preparing Samples: Preparing samples for analysis, which may include processes such as centrifugation (spinning samples to separate components) or mixing and diluting samples to meet testing requirements.
Performing Laboratory Tests
Conducting Routine Tests: Performing standard diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, urine analysis, microbiology cultures, and other lab tests to assess health conditions.
Operating Lab Equipment: Using a variety of laboratory instruments and equipment, such as microscopes, spectrophotometers, analyzers, and centrifuges, to conduct tests and analyze samples.
Specialized Testing: Performing more complex or specialized tests depending on the area of the laboratory (e.g., clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, or molecular biology).
Quality Control: Ensuring that laboratory tests are conducted accurately by adhering to strict protocols and performing regular calibration and maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Analyzing and Interpreting Results
Data Analysis: Analyzing test results and identifying abnormalities or patterns that could indicate a medical condition or disease. This may involve comparing results to reference ranges or historical data.
Record Keeping: Documenting test results in electronic health records (EHR) or lab information systems (LIS), ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
Reporting Results: Communicating test findings to medical professionals, such as doctors or pathologists, who will use the results to make diagnostic or treatment decisions.
Ensuring Laboratory Safety
Safety Protocols: Following safety protocols to handle potentially hazardous materials, such as bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and biological specimens. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), like gloves, lab coats, and masks.
Waste Disposal: Ensuring that waste, including biohazardous materials, is disposed of according to environmental and health regulations.
Sterilization and Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and sterile laboratory environment by cleaning work surfaces, properly sterilizing instruments, and avoiding cross-contamination of samples.

Desired candidate profile

Strong academic results.
Good command of the English, Arabic language.
Good experience MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Good Communication Skills.
Maintaining Laboratory Equipment
Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspecting, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure it operates at peak performance. This may include troubleshooting and repairing minor equipment issues.
Inventory Management: Managing the inventory of laboratory supplies, such as chemicals, reagents, and test kits, ensuring that they are stocked and used before expiration dates.
Ordering Supplies: Ordering necessary laboratory consumables and materials to ensure the lab is adequately equipped for all tests and procedures.
Adhering to Regulatory Standards and Compliance
Compliance with Regulations: Ensuring that the laboratory operates in compliance with regulatory bodies, such as the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) in the U.S., FDA regulations, and local health authorities.
Accreditation and Certification: Following accreditation standards (e.g., from the Joint Commission or other certifying bodies) and ensuring the laboratory maintains quality assurance protocols to meet industry standards.
Documentation: Keeping accurate and detailed records of laboratory procedures, test results, and quality control activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and certification standards.
Collaboration and Communication
Working with Healthcare Teams: Collaborating with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to discuss test results, clarify patient conditions, and assist in making treatment decisions.
Patient Interaction: In some settings, laboratory specialists may interact with patients, particularly when collecting samples or explaining the process.
Training and Mentoring: Training new laboratory staff, including technicians and students, on laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
