**JOB PURPOSE**

**BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.**

**Accountable to the Director of Engineering, the Head of Technical Capability is responsible for leading the development and delivery of the functional strategic capability plan to provision the engineering skills, processes, and tools needed to effectively execute todays business and ensure that we are ‘fit and ready’ with the capabilities required for the future.**

**RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION**

***The development and delivery of the long term functional capability plans to provision the skills, processes, and tools required to support and enable delivery of the current and the future BAESSA business IBP requirements.**The development and adaptation of the engineering skills competency framework and associated assets ensuring alignment with the needs of the business.**

****Establishing an engineering skill discipline professional leadership network across the organisation to ‘bring to life’ the capability skill disciplines within the business.**

****Developing resource supply strategies and solutions aligned to projected business programme requirements and undertaking skill competency assessments as necessary.**

****Developing engineering people talent to meet the needs of Vision 2030 and provide succession and the people capability required for both today and the future.**

****Maintaining strong functional identity for all engineers deployed across the organisational enterprise.**Establish the Capability benchmark and develop strong strategic partnerships across industry, academia and customers.**

****Development and implementation of plans and secure necessary investment for new and improved processes and toolsets leading to improvements in engineering delivery and affordability.**Identification, promotion, and exploitation of new technology, industry best practice, capability and services in support of operational improvements or new market opportunities**

****Development and securing agreement to engineering capability investment plans; including programme sponsorship of relevant improvement projects.**

****Review and ensure compliance of discipline policies with Legal, Regulatory, and Operational Framework requirements along with endorsing any Project specific tailoring.**

****Development of engineering policy and the BAESSA engineering functional governance manual (FGM).**

**Developing relationships with other line of business engineering functional teams across Air Sector to identify/ share best practice reading across as appropriate.**
