**Key Purpose**:
- **The SME will**:

- Provide technical direction to Construction Managers, Superintendents, and stake holders.
- Prepare Safe Scaffold erection plans, safe access and egress and working WAH operation
- Preparing guidance document
- Maintain contact with Engineering department regarding layout, foundation design, provisions for erection, and verification of the suitability of imposed loadings on each rung.
- Work closely with Construction Manager to prepare for equipment installation, and equipment
- Establish plans for WAH on temporary works and permanent structures
- Confirm the load bearing of scaffold floors
- Provide technical input into the development of erection and rigging and load distribution strategies
- Advising project supervision and field engineering personnel on selection of suitable equipment
- Liaising with Traffic Management team while planning roads and passages near to the scaffold footprint
- Conduct Random inspection on site
- Assist the internal and external stakeholders in planning and execution
- Ensure all work is carried out as per regulation and legal compliance
- Ensure best practice is adhered to and that any non-conformity is identified
- Provide input into preparation of training packages for scaffolders and WAH
- Review certification of Scaffolders and inspectors when required
- Recommend appropriate trainings for the supervisory staff
- Ensure every scaffold gang includes a competent scaffolder who has received training for the type and complexity of the scaffold to be erected, altered or dismantled

Key accountabilities
- Ability to produce technical reports and presentations
- Clear communication, oral and written
- Promoting safe working practices in all areas
- Ability of reviewing construction design plans
- Liaising with permanent works designer and contractors
- Accountable for the management of the design, checking process and technical approval of erection and dismantling of designated Scaffold and WAH work when required
- Ability to rectify and resolve problems with swift technical solutions
- Ability to identify incorrect use of fall protection equipment

Specific requirements
CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card
- Recognized H&S Qualification. (IOSH/NEBOSH etc. )
- At least 5 years’ experience as a leading hand or in a supervisory role.
- Computer literate - in particular MS Word,
- Working knowledge of current scaffolding safety standards and best practice
- Problem solving, leadership, influencing and effective communication skills
- Excellent relationship building skills and ability to adapt an approach to influence the stake holders
- Previous experience of working in an audit/inspector capacity
- Ability to understand modern industrial technology
- Ability to use instruments of measurement when required
- willingness to stay up to date with new developments, as change is constant in this profession. Persuasion and negotiation skills
- Ability to use discretion and tact
- Confidence and resilience while conducting random inspections
- A good level of physical fitness and agility as climbing heights and negotiating uneven surfaces and obstacles may be necessary on occasion
- A full driving license - is essential as the role involves frequent travel to different locations

Qualification Degree in Civil, Structural with at least 4 years post qualification experience in Temporary Works / Construction. Or
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate/Diploma
- 15+ years of experience with major construction Industry
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution
- Language skills, multilingual preferable
