Job Summary:

The Electrical Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting and ensuring that electrical systems, components, and installations meet specified quality standards, engineering drawings, and project requirements. The inspector will perform visual, functional, and electrical tests using precision instruments and equipment to verify compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE) and company specifications. This role focuses on infrastructure projects, including substations, power distribution, and electrical installations for civil and industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection & Testing:

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of electrical components, cables, panels, and systems.
  • Use electrical testing instruments (multimeters, insulation testers, clamp meters, power analyzers, etc.) to verify compliance with design specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections for defects such as wiring errors, insulation damage, loose connections, and panel irregularities.
  • Perform functional and operational tests on electrical systems to ensure proper performance.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Record inspection results in detailed reports (e.g., inspection checklists, non-conformance reports).
  • Maintain inspection logs and quality records for traceability.
  • Document non-conformities and coordinate with engineering/contractor teams to resolve issues.

Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with electrical drawings, specifications, and industry standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE).
  • Verify that materials, electrical components, protective devices, and wiring meet required quality standards.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with project engineers, contractors, and suppliers to address quality concerns.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical defects.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance installation quality and efficiency.

Safety & Maintenance:

  • Follow electrical safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Calibrate and maintain inspection tools and testing equipment regularly.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Technical certification, diploma, or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field (preferred).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical quality inspection in infrastructure, construction, or industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and testing procedures.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments and meters.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and quality procedures (IEC, NEC, IEEE).
  • Experience with testing electrical panels, switchgear, transformers, and distribution systems.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) or equivalent.
  • Electrical Safety & Testing Certifications (e.g., NETA, NFPA 70E).
  • Experience with insulation resistance testing, continuity checks, and high-voltage testing.
