OS Management Specialist

Main Objective:

We are seeking a skilled OS Management Specialist to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and managing both physical and virtual servers, ensuring that operating systems and applications are up to date and secure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Server Maintenance:

    • Ensure the maintenance of physical and virtual servers, including operating system and application patching, messaging, and backups.

  • Client Agent Management:

    • Manage client agents for server monitoring (SCOM) and server management (SCCM), as well as Application Performance Monitoring (APM) using AppDynamics.

  • Automated Processes Guidance:

    • Provide guidance for automated processes within the Microsoft Orchestrator environment.

  • Operations Support:

    • Provide daily operations support and maintenance for enterprise servers (both Windows and non-Windows).

  • Patch Management:

    • Manage and maintain operating system patches in compliance with vendor recommendations and security best practices.

  • System Monitoring:

    • Regularly review system logs and operating system behavior to proactively monitor systems and address issues.

  • Documentation:

    • Create and maintain detailed technical design documentation and operation documentation.

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with ERP and non-ERP application, database, and web hosting teams for day-to-day support and break/fix issues. Attend meetings and coordinate scheduled maintenance.

  • Scheduled Maintenance:

    • Ensure periodic scheduled maintenance activities (including system restarts) are communicated with the IT Systems Operations department.

  • Server Configuration:

    • Install, configure, manage, operate, and maintain Windows server systems (e.g., Windows Server 2010, 2012, 2016) and RHEL server systems (e.g., RHEL 7.x, 8.x, 9.x).

  • Server Management:

    • Perform overall server management, including OS installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, virus protection, patch deployment, resource observation, and hardware/software upgrades.

  • User Account Management:

    • Create and maintain user and group accounts, delete unused accounts, and implement group/user account policies.

  • Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with NCA, NIC, and cybersecurity regulations and recommendations.

  • Vendor Interaction:

    • Raise tickets with vendor technologies (e.g., Microsoft, RHEL) through websites, emails, or phone, and join meetings to explain issues when necessary.
Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in server management, specifically with Windows and RHEL environments.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of operating systems, server monitoring, and maintenance procedures.
    • Familiarity with SCOM, SCCM, and APM tools.

  • Documentation Skills:

    • Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation for operations and technical processes.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various teams.

  • Problem-Solving Skills:

    • Strong troubleshooting abilities and knowledge of cybersecurity regulations
