Role Summary:

The Head of Infrastructure will define and lead the cloud infrastructure strategy for a high-growth, regulated FinTech operating in Saudi Arabia and expanding globally. This role is accountable for ensuring scalability, reliability, and regulatory compliance — with particular emphasis on data residency, business continuity, and disaster recovery. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with strategic leadership to build a secure and high-performing cloud environment.

This role is open worldwide remote, however if the candidate is based in Riyadh, KSA or Cairo, Egypt then it will be Hybrid.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and manage a secure, high-availability, and scalable cloud infrastructure on GCP capable of supporting 1M+ users and 200M+ annual transactions.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance by embedding data residency, business continuity, and disaster recovery requirements into all infrastructure designs and operations.
  • Drive operational excellence through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, incident response, and service reliability engineering (SRE).
  • Automate and optimize infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), cost governance, and performance tuning to achieve efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead and collaborate — building a high-performing infrastructure and DevOps team while partnering with security, compliance, and engineering functions to ensure resilience and audit readiness.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 10+ years in infrastructure engineering, operations, or cloud architecture, including 5+ years in leadership roles managing high-performing teams.
  • Deep proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — VPC, IAM, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Cloud Monitoring — with proven ability to scale infrastructure for millions of users and high-volume, low-latency transactions.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps toolchains (GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
  • Strong knowledge of network architecture, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, private interconnects, zero-trust security models, identity management, and encryption standards.
  • Proven track record implementing multi-region high availability, disaster recovery, and data residency-compliant architectures.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and orchestration of cloud-native workloads.
  • Solid experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver) to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Experience managing cloud cost governance, capacity planning, and performance tuning for efficiency and scalability.
  • Strong grounding in ISO 27001, SAMA Cybersecurity Framework, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability in incident management, root cause analysis, post-mortems, and embedding operational best practices across teams.

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures.
