Category Manager job description:


As a Category Manager specializing in Vitamins, you will be responsible for managing the assortment, pricing, promotion, and overall performance of the vitamins category within the organization.

You will work closely with suppliers, vendors, marketing teams, and other internal stakeholders to drive sales, maximize profitability, and enhance customer satisfaction within the vitamins segment.


Category Manager duties and responsibilities:

  • Assortment Management:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive assortment strategy for the vitamins category, considering market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape.
  • Identify opportunities to expand or optimize the product assortment based on consumer insights, sales data, and industry developments.
  • Regularly review product performance and make datadriven decisions to optimize SKU assortment, including new product introductions and discontinuations.

Pricing and Promotion Strategy:

  • Develop pricing strategies that drive sales, maintain competitiveness, and maximize profitability while considering market dynamics and cost structures.
  • Collaborate with pricing analysts and finance teams to monitor and adjust pricing based on market conditions, competitive positioning, and financial goals.
  • Plan and execute promotional activities, including discounts, bundles, and special offers, to stimulate demand and achieve sales targets.

Supplier and Vendor Management:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors in the vitamins category to ensure timely and efficient product sourcing, delivery, and quality.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, including pricing, payment terms, and promotional support, to optimize supplier partnerships and enhance profitability.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues promptly, and address any quality or supply chain concerns to maintain a reliable product pipeline.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with marketing teams to develop and execute marketing campaigns, product launches, and promotional activities that drive awareness and demand for vitamins.
  • Work closely with inventory management and supply chain teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory holding costs.
  • Provide regular updates, insights, and recommendations to senior management and other relevant stakeholders regarding the performance and strategic direction of the vitamins category.

Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitive developments in the vitamins category through market research, competitor analysis, and consumer feedback.
  • Utilize market insights and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities, address competitive threats, and differentiate the organization's offerings in the market.

Category Manager requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Pharmacy, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in category management, product management, or related roles, preferably in vitamins retail industry.
  • Deep understanding of the vitamins market in KSA, including consumer trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a resultsoriented mindset and a track record of driving growth and profitability in assigned categories.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools; experience with data analytics and category management software preferred.
