Purpose of Job
Deliver sourcing and economic intelligence to support and inform strategic decision-making and commercial performance.

Review, analyse, and consolidate relevant economic data and information. Uncover, understand, and convey pertinent cost and pricing factors influencing market dynamics affecting Sasol Group's procurement spending environment.

Consider local, regional, and global implications affecting the costs of goods and services in models. Develop tools that can be utilized to improve outcomes in supplier negotiations and pricing confidence.

Specialize in price indices, economic analysis, sourcing intelligence, contract price adjustment, and market analysis.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

  • Possess extensive knowledge of economic and price indices and their origins.
  • Interpret and analyze economic data to offer insights facilitating decision-making.
  • Build and customize tools capturing and defining relevant cost elements to enhance understanding of procurement costs and their implications on Sasol's spending.
  • Construct price index models for various commodities to provide valuable insights.
  • Leverage predictive analytics to optimize sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations for present and future expenditures.
  • Explore and utilize cutting-edge tools to enhance commodity pricing intelligence.
  • Establish and maintain a dedicated dashboard for sourcing intelligence.
  • Stay updated on external economic factors and technology sources related to costing.
  • Monitor industry macro and microeconomic factors impacting costs.
  • Develop processes, establish, and implement a sourcing intelligence framework supporting activities focused on knowledge retention.
  • Facilitate the development of methodologies, analyses, and tools for 'should costing' procedures for relevant commodities.
  • Apply evidence-based SHE practices in compliance with safety standards.
  • Implement Sasol Group's risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance on should-costing and create transparent informational content.
  • Continuously enhance personal skills and knowledge. Execute, integrate, and monitor a personal development plan to achieve individual performance objectives.

Formal Education

  • University Bachelor's Degree, preferably in B.Com Economics or B.Com Finance.
  • A postgraduate relevant qualification will be beneficial.

Min Experience

  • Minimum of 9 years' experience within an economic field.
  • Experience with economic indices is essential.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI.
