Associate, Systematic Active Equities Portfolio Management

**About this role**

BlackRock is seeking an Associate level systematic researcher to join the Systematic Active Equity (SAE) team in Riyadh and support this leading business.

SAE is a pioneer in systematic investing, managing over $150bn in assets for institutions and retail investors around the world.

This professional will join an established team who, in partnership with internal stakeholders, are responsible for developing new business, fostering client relationships, designing new investment products strengthening the research library used across a global suite of active investment strategies. This professional will play a crucial role in developing the systematic business in Saudi Arabia, and also in furthering our local research efforts using local and global data sources.

**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate closely with senior strategists, researchers and portfolio managers within SAE to cultivate a deep understanding of our investment approach, portfolio characteristics and performance results to understand all facets of the products.
- Test new data sets and develop them into investment ideas and learn to create signals from front to back. Contribute to developing new investment signals to further SAE's library of signals.
- Work alongside portfolios managers to understand outcomes, and work to improve systematic models to respond to perceived gaps or newly emerging trends.
- Work with the global team to find new and innovative local data sets to use in our investment approach.

**Skills / Qualifications**:

- Passionate about investing, fundamentally curious and self-motivated
- Clear ability to understand the drivers of global markets
- Strong programming skills, preferably from both a statistical analysis background (Python, ML libraries) and data pipeline background (AWS, Hadoop, Spark, SQL)
- A Bachelors, Masters or PhD in a quantitative discipline: e.g., economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science
- Outstanding communication skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment and across the organisation - adaptable, reliable with a strong 'can do' attitude
- Have a strong track record in effective coordination and task management
