2. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
The Principal Specialist for Financial Modelling and Valuation will be responsible for developing and maintaining financial models, performing valuation analysis, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making processes.
The person will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and senior management, to ensure accurate and comprehensive financial analysis for various mining projects, assets and other opportunities including M&A and JVs.
Proficiency in tools such as Think-cell and MS office is a must.

3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Description

Financial Modelling
- Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to assess the financial performance of mining projects, incorporating key inputs such as production volumes, costs, commodity prices, and capital expenditures.
- Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate the impact of various factors on project economics and financial viability.
- Validate and interpret model outputs, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and consistency in line with established financial principles and company guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial models and implement best practices for modelling methodologies and techniques.

Opportunity Valuation and Analysis
- Perform valuation analysis for mining projects and other opportunities (including M&A, JV) utilizing appropriate valuation methodologies such as discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and net asset value (NAV) analysis.
- Evaluate financial performance, risks, and potential returns on investment to support investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct benchmarking analysis against industry peers to assess the relative valuation and financial attractiveness of projects and opportunities.
- Prepare valuation reports and presentations summarizing key findings and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to gather relevant data and insights for financial modelling and valuation analysis.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their requirements, address queries, and present financial analysis findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.

Industry Research and Knowledge:

- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting the mining industry.
- Conduct research and analysis on competitor activities, industry benchmarks, and emerging financial modelling techniques to ensure the company remains at the forefront of financial analysis and valuation practices.

5. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

- Maintain consistent communication and engagement with mines, departments, affiliates management, and corporate Finance and Accounting team.

6. JOB RELEVANT INFORMATION (BOUNDARIES & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY):

- Definition of strategic and tactical plans for the Department.
- Approvals as per Ma’aden Gold and Base Metals SBU approved authority matrix.

7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

- Bachelor/Master’s degree with specialization in accounting or finance.
- CPA / CMA / CA / CFA qualification will be advantages.
- A minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in financial modelling and valuation analysis, preferably in the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and valuation methodologies.
- Proficiency in using financial modelling software and other tools (e.g., Excel, Think-cell Bloomberg)
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and within different mediums.
- Proactive and organised, with the ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to multi-task and must be well organized; attention to detail; high level of accuracy.
- Ability to respond sensitively and appropriately to confidential issues and information.
- High level of accuracy, consistency and timely responses are essential.
