Job Purpose

The Senior Investigations Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that thorough and unbiased investigations are conducted into allegations related to fraud, corruption, and misconduct involving Bank Group Staff. The overall objective of the Senior Investigations Specialist is to conduct comprehensive investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, misconduct, and other malpractices.

The outcomes of these investigations are transmitted either to the Sanctions Committee under the Bank's Sanctions Procedures or to the President and administered under the Bank's disciplinary framework. This includes reviewing and analyzing allegations and whistleblowing information to determine relevancy and reliability, conducting sensitive interviews, and other investigative research activities as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigative Work: Conduct thorough and unbiased investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, misconduct, and other malpractices.
  • Reporting, Planning, and Monitoring: Prepare and submit reports on investigation findings and recommendations to the Sanctions Committee or the President.
  • People Management: Lead and manage a team of investigators to ensure that investigations are conducted efficiently and effectively.
Requirements
  • Academic Qualifications: Master's degree in Law, Criminology, Audit, Forensic Accounting or Auditing, Finance, or a similar field.
  • Professional Qualifications: Professional qualification as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor, or MBA would be an advantage.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience (Bachelor with 8+ years) in anti-corruption, fraud or workplace investigation, including in a multi-lateral development financial institution or relevant international organization.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent IT Skills: Excellent IT skills in multimedia and IT (Word, Excel, Access, MS Publisher, Website, and Database management).
  • Excellent Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to analyze complex data and information.
  • Communication Skills: Strong and proven ability to communicate, write, present and clearly defend findings and recommendations of investigations.
  • Integrity and Discretion: Integrity, good judgment, fairness, and discretion in dealing with staff and external parties.
  • Investigative Experience: Substantial experience in investigative work, preferably investigations relating to fraud and corruption in the public or private sector.
  • Knowledge of Business Ethics: Understanding of unethical behaviors or professional misconduct, including extensive knowledge of Business Ethics in IFIs.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to provide team leadership and develop trust while demonstrating fairness.
