Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Safety Supervisor to join our esteemed clients in the Shipbuilding industry based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As an integral part of their team, you will be responsible for ensuring all activities undertaken by the company comply with the Integrated Management System requirements and facilitating ongoing regulatory compliance.

About the Role
  • You will provide leadership and coordination of day-to-day safety requirements for assigned zonal or project activities, maintaining a visible presence in operational areas and undertaking specific duties as defined by the Operational Safety Manager.
  • Carry out regular inspections of work areas, reporting and recording deficiencies according to company hazard reporting procedures, and monitor the implementation of the company control of work/Permit-to-Work system.
Main Responsibilities
  1. Develop strategies to support the delivery of OH&S objectives, including setting SMART Goals and development plans for direct reports on the IFS system.
  2. Manage staff allocation to ensure adequate coverage in required work areas and steward the implementation of world-class OH&S practices that deliver value for company stakeholders.
  3. Assist frontline supervisors in delivering pre-task toolbox talks, ensuring records are maintained, and participate in emergency drills and real emergency situations within operational areas.
  4. Monitor the effective implementation of the OH&S management system on project/zone and provide OH&S performance reports to the Safety Performance Manager/VP HSEQ as required.
  5. Carry out any other duties instructed by the OH&SE Manager(s) and actively contribute to corporate and departmental KPIs by maintaining and making available OH&S related documented information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or relevant discipline with 12/+ years experience in a similar role, preferably with shipyard experience.
  • Professional qualifications include attaining or working towards obtaining the NEBOSH International General Certificate, IRCA approved Internal auditor (OH&S/EMS), and Graduate IOSH membership level.
  • Key competencies include ability to communicate effectively with site management, clients, and workforce; integrity and ethical behavior; ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team; and identifying unsafe acts/practices and suggesting control measures.
