Job Summary

The Stand Design Manager is a critical role within Informa Connect Limited, responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of exhibition stands at events. This position requires a strong understanding of event staging, temporary structures, power distribution, AV & lighting, logistics, rigging & health & safety.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement event-specific health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with local legislation and venue standards.
  2. Collaborate with event operations and show teams to ensure suppliers and exhibitor-appointed contractors meet Informa's standards.
  3. Monitor and review stand plan submissions to ensure Permission to Build status is met.
  4. Evaluate stand design requirements and identify potential risks, providing solutions to mitigate them.
  5. Oversee high-risk activities, such as early access, rigging, heavy lifts, and large machinery.
  6. Provide safety inductions and training to relevant personnel.
  7. Manage the onsite construction and dismantlement stages, ensuring a safe working environment.
  8. Support incident response and emergency situations.
  9. Record event health and safety performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  10. Liaise with sales and sponsorship teams regarding branding charges on stand designs.
  11. Manage appointed health and safety floor safety contractors.
  12. Provide input to the wash-up meeting, highlighting lessons learned.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent.
  • A proactive approach, anticipating needs and taking initiative.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A background knowledge of the exhibition industry or operations.
  • Understanding of technical elements in construction design management.
  • Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines and deliverables.
  • Great handling of administrative responsibilities.
  • Ability to be creative within your job area.
  • Maintain strong communications with internal and external stakeholders.
