Job Summary

Black Pearl is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse or Staff Nurse to join our team in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals requiring advanced nursing skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and complex nursing care to patients with cancer, requiring advanced nursing skills and knowledge.
  • Function as a preceptor and role model for new hires and other staff members, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Provide clinical assistance and support to staff nurses, practical nurses, patient care assistants, and nursing interns, ensuring seamless care delivery.
  • Act as a backup charge nurse when necessary, demonstrating leadership and expertise.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process to deliver direct patient care and related activities, referring to relevant resources and guidelines.
  • Serve as a resource to other staff members in assessing complex patient and family needs, promoting a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Assist staff members in improving their knowledge and skills, providing input and guidance when needed.
  • Identify and assess the need for suitable staff development programs in the assigned clinical area, ensuring effective patient care.
  • Develop, coordinate, and review patient care plans, serving as a direct care clinical resource.
  • Provide total, direct nursing care to patients requiring advanced, skilled, or complex care, prioritizing patient needs and safety.
  • Administer chemotherapy and other treatments as directed by oncologists and hematologists, ensuring accurate and timely care delivery.
  • Assist clinicians with procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and aspirations, paracentesis, and hypersensitivity reactions, demonstrating expertise and professionalism.
  • Monitor patients for changes in status and indications of conditions, initiating interventions for hypersensitivity reactions and chemotherapy extravasation.
  • Teach patients and families regarding treatment expectations, promoting patient education and empowerment.
  • Precept new hires and nursing interns, mentoring nursing staff with identified needs, and promoting a culture of growth and development.
  • Assist clinicians with complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, demonstrating expertise and collaboration.
  • Perform procedures requiring advanced competency skills or training in expanded nursing roles, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Act as a resource to other staff members during the evaluation of complex patient care, promoting a culture of quality and safety.
  • Evaluate the progress of new hires, nursing interns, and other identified staff, providing input to charge nurses, supervisors, and/or nursing intern coordinators.
  • Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care conferences and unit in-services, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Evaluate patient care supplies and equipment, providing input to charge nurses and supervisors, ensuring optimal care delivery.
  • Serve as a direct clinical resource in the development, review, revision, and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, standards of care, and applicable medical organization policies.
  • Represent the unit or department on committees, special interest groups, and task forces, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Treat customers (guests, patients, nurses, physicians, and other employees) with courtesy, respect, and caring behaviors, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Always answer patient call lights/bells, even if not assigned to the patient, and take the initiative to assist patients, prioritizing patient needs and safety.
  • Present a positive image of Black Pearl through professional appearance and behavior, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Maintain confidentiality by choosing the appropriate persons, time, and place for patient-related discussions, ensuring patient privacy and dignity.
  • Immediately bring abnormal findings to the attention of the Charge Nurse, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Support a unit culture of quality and safety, promoting a culture of excellence and professionalism.
  • Assure patient comfort and dignity measures during transport, without exception, prioritizing patient needs and safety.
  • Frequently check for and read all communication/minutes, staying informed and up-to-date on relevant information.
