Job Summary

Wood Plc is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our team in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. As a key member of our process safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our facilities and developing strategies to mitigate potential risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Philosophy Development
    • Develop and maintain Safety Philosophy Documents, including Firewater and Process Safety guidelines.
  • Flare Radiation Analysis
    • Perform Flare Radiation Analysis using Flaresim or similar software to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Hydrocarbon Dispersion Analysis
    • Conduct Hydrocarbon Dispersion Analysis using DNV Phast to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Safety Equipment Requirements
    • Determine safety equipment requirements, including eyewash and safety shower installations.
  • Plant Escape and Evacuation Procedures
    • Develop and maintain Plant Escape and Evacuation Procedures and Layouts to ensure safe evacuation in emergency situations.
  • Plant Building Risk Assessment
    • Perform Plant Building Risk Assessment to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Quantitative Risk Assessment
    • Perform Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) using Safeti to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Firewater Demand Calculations
    • Perform Firewater demand calculations to ensure adequate fire suppression systems.
  • Fire Fighting System Design
    • Design fire fighting systems for buildings and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Fire Network Hydraulics
    • Perform fire network hydraulics using Pipenet or similar software to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Fire System P&IDs
    • Develop Fire System P&IDs, including firewater network and firewater pumps.
  • Fire Hazardous Layouts
    • Develop Fire Hazardous Layouts to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Coverage Layouts
    • Develop Coverage Layouts, including hydrants and monitors, to ensure safe operation.
  • Safety Workshops
    • Participate in safety workshops, including PHA, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in process safety engineering.
  • Skills
    • Basic knowledge of developing H&MB, PFD's, P&ID's, MSD's.
    • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing.
    • Basic knowledge in relief and blowdown calculations.
    • Ability to develop process simulation.
